Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease that can causes positive changes, as well as psychological distress. The aim of the this study is to investigate the posttraumatic growth level of adults with type 2 diabetes and to identify the relationship among perceived social support, coping, diabetes management self-efficacy, perceived expressed emotions, and PTG in diabetes patients from non-western, developing country. The findings revealed that patients experience a moderate level of posttraumatic growth. Regression analyses showed that the severity of the disease, educational level, perceived soci

Posttraumatic growth is positive psychological change that occurs beyond pre-trauma levels. Understanding the relationship between growth, stress and quality of life after burn improves understanding about the nature of postburn psychological growth and associated quality of life factors. This study aimed to determine the nature of these relationships, and whether posttraumatic growth changed over time in individuals. Two hundred and seventeen surveys were collected from 73 adult burn patients. The Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Score, SF-36 quality of life and

PURPOSE: While the negative correlation between perceived stress and post-traumatic growth (PTG) in breast cancer patients is well-documented, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study explores a moderated mediation model to investigate whether anxiety mediates this relationship and whether benefit finding (BF) moderates the mediation process. METHODS: A total of 1,135 breast cancer patients completed questionnaires assessing PTG, perceived stress, BF, and anxiety. The General Situation Table, The Simplified Chinese Version of the PTG Inventory (C-PTGI), The Chinese Version of the P

BACKGROUND: With the increasing incidence of stroke among young and middle-aged individuals, addressing their psychological well-being has become a critical concern. Negative emotional states such as depression, anxiety, and conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can hinder recovery and increase the risk of recurrence. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a meta-synthesis of qualitative research on post-traumatic growth (PTG) in this population, examining the factors that contribute to PTG, its developmental trajectory, and the coping mechanisms involved.
METHODS: A systematic

This study aims to examine posttraumatic growth and its associations with parental bereavement among adolescents and young adults. Fifty-five young adults who had lost a parent to cancer at least 2 months earlier and were about to attend a support group at a palliative care service were recruited. Data was collected through questionnaires before support group participation, about 5-8 months after the loss and at a 6-month follow-up, about 14-18 months after the loss. The result shows that the young adults experienced posttraumatic growth, mostly in the domains Personal strength and Appreciatio

BACKGROUND: Kidney transplantation (KT) is a life-saving therapy for kidney failure. However, KT recipients can suffer from debilitating depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and suicide. In contrast to PTSD, post-traumatic growth (PTG) is a positive psychologic change in response to a challenging situation. PTG has been studied in other chronic diseases, but less is known about its role in the setting of KT. We sought to elucidate the prevalence, predictors, and the effect of PTSD and PTG on post-KT outcomes. We also considered the roles of benefit finding and resilience.

This study examined whether perceiving an event as a trauma influenced a cognitive processing model explaining posttraumatic growth (PTG). A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted with 311 university students from eight universities in Japan. The participants provided information about the most stressful event they had experienced and completed the expanded version of the PTG Inventory, Core Belief Inventory, Event Related Rumination Inventory, and Cognitive and Emotional Processing from Disclosure Inventory. A multi-group structural equation modeling was conducted by dividing the

Research consistently documents the deleterious sequelae of interpersonal trauma, including domestic and sexual violence (DSV). More recently, however, researchers and practitioners have focused on positive outcomes, such as post-traumatic growth (PTG), in survivors of DSV. Although research has begun to document the prevalence and correlates of PTG, no study to our knowledge has explored PTG in a sample of women with histories of addiction and victimization residing in a trauma-informed sober living home (SLH). The purpose of the current study was to examine this gap in the literature. Partic

Exposure to work-related traumatic incidents in firefighters may result in positive psychological changes which are termed "posttraumatic growth". This study aimed to construct structure equation modeling based on the model of posttraumatic growth in firefighters. Methods: A total of 226 firefighters who had experienced a work-related traumatic incident participated. The participants from three municipal fire departments and seven fire stations completed an anonymous survey asking about extraversion, optimism, calling in the workplace, problem-focused coping, deliberate rumination, and posttra

This study examined the roles of resilience and willingness to seek psychological help in influencing Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG) among 173 emerging adults who experienced parental loss during their school years. A positive relationship was found between resilience, the willingness to seek psychological help, and PTG. Participants who endured loss over five years prior manifested increased PTG (New-Possibilities, Spiritual Change, and Appreciation of Life sub-scales) relative to those with more recent losses. The multiple regression model was notable, accounting for 33% of the variance in PTG.

Although rumination and social support are regarded as essential predictors of posttraumatic growth (PTG), few studies have explored the associations among PTG, rumination, and social support in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study examined whether social support mediates the relationship between rumination and PTG. Cross-sectional questionnaire data were collected from 385 parents of children with ASD from September 2019 to November 2020 by convenience sampling. Participants completed the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Event Related Rumination Inventory, and So

Improved neural understanding of posttraumatic growth (PTG) is required for effective trauma care. PTG is the advantageous psychological change some individuals derive from their struggle to overcome trauma. This comprehensive review critically examined the limited neural PTG research, to identify electrophysiological training targets for future research examining neurofeedback to enhance PTG, and provides novel insights into the emerging neural theory of PTG. PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews) informed the process. Fin
