Susceptibility-weighted imaging and quantitative susceptibility mapping in the brain.

Susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) is a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that enhances image contrast by using the susceptibility differences between tissues. It is created by combining both magnitude and phase in the gradient echo data. SWI is sensitive to both paramagnetic and diamagnetic substances which generate different phase shift in MRI data. SWI images can be displayed as a minimum intensity projection that provides high resolution delineation of the cerebral venous architecture, a feature that is not available in other MRI techniques. As such, SWI has been widely applied

Sclerosing stromal tumor of the ovary: ultrasound elastography and MRI findings on preoperative diagnosis.

Sclerosing stromal tumor (SST) is a benign stromal tumor of the ovary. Preoperative diagnosis of this benign tumor mainly depends on imaging findings. Dynamic computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) show typical contrast enhancement of SST with peripheral enhancement in the early phase and centripetal progression in the delayed phases. We present the imaging findings of ultrasonography, ultrasound elastography, and dynamic MRI in the diagnosis of SST. Abdominal ultrasound elastography is a novel technique that depicts the stromal structure of SSTs by comparing the elastic

An imaging framework for nuclei-based three-dimensional cell quantification in intact tissue using phase-contrast x-ray CT.

OBJECTIVE: Quantitative analysis of cellular morphology and spatial organisation within intact tissue remains
challenging, particularly when three-dimensional information must be preserved. This study investigates whether
laboratory propagation-based phase-contrast X-ray computed tomography (CT) can support nuclei-based quan-
titative analysis in unstained tissue while retaining the surrounding tissue architecture. APPROACH: We propose
a nuclei-based quantitative imaging workflow that combines laboratory propagation-based phase-contrast X-ray
CT with volumetric segmentatio

Comparison of different numerical treatments for x-ray phase tomography of soft tissue from differential phase projections.

X-ray imaging of soft tissue is made difficult by their low absorbance. The use of x-ray phase imaging and tomography can significantly enhance the detection of these tissues and several approaches have been proposed to this end. Methods such as analyzer-based imaging or grating interferometry produce differential phase projections that can be used to reconstruct the 3D distribution of the sample refractive index. We report on the quantitative comparison of three different methods to obtain x-ray phase tomography with filtered back-projection from differential phase projections in the presence

Diffusion Model-Based Displacement Field Generation for 4D-CT Chest Image Generation.

Acquisition of data on respiratory motion and anatomical deformation at the individual level is essential for improving the accuracy of surgical procedures and radiotherapy. Although time-series imaging using three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) and deep learning-based image interpolation have been explored, the acquisition of multiple imaging volumes remains a significant burden on patients because of breath-holding requirements and additional radiation exposure. In this study, we propose a framework for four-dimensional (4D) CT image generation, with images being generated at diff

Wide-field, high-resolution lensless on-chip microscopy via near-field blind ptychographic modulation.

We report a novel lensless on-chip microscopy platform based on near-field blind ptychographic modulation. In this platform, we place a thin diffuser in between the object and the image sensor for light wave modulation. By blindly scanning the unknown diffuser to different x-y positions, we acquire a sequence of modulated intensity images for quantitative object recovery. Different from previous ptychographic implementations, we employ a unit magnification configuration with a Fresnel number of ∼50 000, which is orders of magnitude higher than those of previous ptychographic setups.
