Correlation between placement torque and survival of single-tooth implants.

PURPOSE: This study evaluated the survival parameters of single-tooth implants through clinical and radiographic analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Implants were restored within a 24-hour period with a provisional crown designed to receive an occlusal masticatory load. This approach was compared to implants restored after a healing period (the control group). Forty-six implants were placed in 23 patients who were each treated with 2 Frialit-2 implants placed in sites between the second premolar in the maxilla or mandible. The manufacturer's recommended formal surgical procedure was followed, an

Torque resistance after fixation of Jones fractures with intramedullary screws.

BACKGROUND: Intramedullary screws frequently are used for fixation of Jones fractures of the fifth metarsal. While the ability of intramedullary screw fixation in fifth metatarsals to resist bending and tensile forces is well known, the ability to withstand torsion has not been studied. This paper compares the torsional stiffness of Jones fractures treated with 6.5-mm short- threaded intramedullary screws to those treated with 5.0-mm cannulated short-threaded intramedullary screws. METHODS: Nine fresh-frozen, matched pairs of cadaver fifth metatarsals had an acute Jones fracture simulated wit

Barbell squats in CrossFit athletes: the effects of load and footwear type on trunk flexion and lower limb joints torques at the peak of total support torque.

We examined the effects of barbell load and footwear type on hip, knee, and ankle joint torques during barbell squats in CrossFit athletes. Sixteen participants performed squats at 50%, 70%, and 90% of their 3-repetition maximum, wearing either weightlifting shoes or conventional footwear. Kinematic and kinetic data were captured using a three-dimensional analysis system, enabling the calculation of joint torques and trunk flexion angles at the instant of peak total support torque. Peak total support torque increased with load in both footwear conditions, with no interactions between footwear

Spin-Orbit Torque Induced by Switchable Crystal Inversion Symmetry Breaking.

Effective utilization and manipulation of spin-orbit torque (SOT) is crucial for developing low-power spintronic devices. Inducing additional inversion symmetry breaking (ISB) can manipulate the Rashba spin splitting and thus control the SOT generation efficiency. However, previous works mainly focus on spatial ISB at the interface introduced by the heterostructure. Effective method to introduce crystal ISB and how it impacts the SOT efficiency remains elusive. Here, we report an exotic crystal ISB in SrRuO3 (SRO) that can be reversibly manipulated by the ferroelectric (FE) polarization of the

High Insertion Torque-Clinical Implications and Drawbacks: A Scoping Review.

Implant primary stability is a prerequisite for obtaining osseointegration and clinical success. Insertion torque (IT) is measured during implant placement and is expressed in Ncm. It represents the quantification of the frictional force experienced by the implant as it progresses apically through a rotational motion along its axis. Usually, to achieve osseointegration, a value within the range of 20-40 Ncm is desirable. Below a threshold of 20 Ncm, implants have a decrease in survival rate, while implant stability is guaranteed above 20 Ncm. The main goal of this study was to evaluate whether

Field-Free Spin-Orbit Torque Switching in Janus Chromium Dichalcogenides.

We predict a very large spin-orbit torque (SOT) capability of magnetic chromium-based transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayers in their Janus forms CrXTe, with X = S, Se. The structural inversion symmetry breaking, inherent to Janus structures is responsible for a large SOT response generated by giant Rashba splitting, equivalent to that obtained by applying a transverse electric field of ∼100 V nm-1 in non-Janus CrTe2, completely out of experimental reach. By performing transport simulations on carefully derived Wannier tight-binding models, Janus systems are found to exhibit an SOT p

Knee extensor torque-velocity relationships following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.

BACKGROUND: The inherent nature of the torque-velocity relationship is the inverse nature between the velocity of muscle contraction and torque production and is an indication of muscle function. The purpose of this study was to characterize the torque-velocity relationship in the quadriceps following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction compared to healthy limbs. METHODS: 681 participants were included, 493 of which were patients at least four months following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (23.2 ± 10.08 yr, 6.6 ± 5.37 months post-surgery) and 188 were healthy participants (2

Observation of Spin-Splitter Torque in Collinear Antiferromagnetic RuO_{2}.

The spin-splitter effect is theoretically predicted to generate an unconventional spin current with x- and z- spin polarization via the spin-split band in antiferromagnets. The generated torque, namely, spin-splitter torque, is effective for the manipulation of magnetization in an adjacent magnetic layer without an external magnetic field for spintronic devices such as MRAM. Here, we study the generation of torque in collinear antiferromagnetic RuO_{2} with (100), (101), and (001) crystal planes. Next we find all x-, y-, and z-polarized spin currents depending on the Néel vector direction in R

Torque teno virus in liver diseases and after liver transplantation.

Torque teno virus (TTV) has been proposed as a surrogate biomarker for immune monitoring in different patient cohorts. Historically, TTV has been associated with different liver diseases such as post-transfusion hepatitis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, but the virus's pathogenicity is controversial. TTV is a ubiquitous DNA virus, highly prevalent and mostly indolent in the general population. Thus, TTV viral load is more relevant than prevalence to understand TTV infection. In the context of liver transplantation, TTV viral load is modulated by the immune, viral, and inflammatory status. After

Torque teno virus dynamics during the first year of life.

BACKGROUND: Torque teno virus is a small chronically persisting circular negative ssDNA virus reaching near 100% prevalence. It is reported to be a marker for immune function in immunocompromised patients. The possibility of vertical maternal-fetal transmission remains controversial but incidence rate of TTV DNA in children increased with age. TTV dynamics well studied for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as a predictor of post-transplant complications but there is no viral proliferation kinetics data for other patient groups or healthy individuals. The aim of this study was

Predictors of Elbow Torque Among Youth and Adolescent Baseball Pitchers.

BACKGROUND: There has been an increasing incidence of overuse elbow injuries among youth and adolescent pitchers. Pitch type has been implicated as a risk factor for excess torque at the medial elbow; however, this has not been definitively demonstrated. PURPOSE: To assess predictors of torque across the medial elbow in youth and adolescent pitchers with a mobile sensor. In addition, the authors aimed to determine the differences in elbow torque produced according to pitch type (fastball, curveball, changeup) and pitcher demographics. STUDY DESIGN: Descriptive laboratory study. METHODS: Twe

Evidence of Torque teno virus (TTV) vertical transmission in swine.

Routes of swine torque teno virus (TTV) transmission have been minimally investigated in the pig population. Current knowledge suggests the faecal-oral route as the most probable way of viral dissemination. Other transmission routes, such as mother-to-infant, have been studied in humans, but no information is available for swine. Thus, the objective of the present study was to determine the prevalence of two swine TTV genogroups, TTV1 and TTV2, in colostrum samples (n=61) and sera samples from sows (n=10) and stillborn pigs coming from them (n=30). Colostrum was fractioned into two components,

Torque Teno Virus: any pathological role in liver transplanted patients?

Few studies have been performed on the prevalence of Torque Teno Virus (TTV) infection in liver transplant (LT) recipients. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence, viremia and genogroup pattern of TTV among LT patients and to ascertain whether TTV causes liver damage in liver transplanted patients with biochemical and histological changes of unknown origin. Twenty-five patients were evaluated before and after LT; 80 healthy subjects were considered as controls. Serum samples were serially obtained from all the patients before LT and thereafter at 3, 6 and 12 months post-transplant.

Contraction specific changes in passive torque in human skeletal muscle.

The present investigation examined passive torque and electromyographic response in human skeletal muscle during passive static stretch within 60 s after maximal repetitive eccentric and concentric contractions. Passive torque (Nm) offered by the hamstring muscle group was measured during passive knee extension in a modified dynamometer in 10 subjects. The distal thigh was elevated to 0.52 rad from horizontal and the backrest was positioned at 1.57 rad. The lever arm moved the leg passively at 0.09 rad s-1 from a starting position of 1.48 rad below horizontal to the final position where it rem

Enhanced Field-Like Torque Generated from the Anisotropic Spin-Split Effect in Triple-Domain RuO2 for Energy-Efficient Spin-Orbit Torque Magnetic Random-Access Memory.

Spin-current generation via the anisotropic spin-split effect has been predicted in antiferromagnetic RuO2, where the symmetry of RuO2 plays a critical role in spin-orbit torque (SOT). This phenomenon has garnered attention for its potential to enable energy-efficient spintronic devices, such as SOT magnetic random-access memory. In this study, a high-quality RuO2 (100) epitaxial film with a well-controlled triple-domain-structure is analyzed, and it is confirmed that out-of-plane spin-current generation is independent of the Néel vector ( N ⃗ $\vec N$ ). This N ⃗ $\vec N$ independence of

Comparative viral load analysis of torque Teno virus and Torque teno mini virus in COVID-19 infected and non-infected individuals in the United Arab Emirates.

BACKGROUND: Torque teno virus (TTV) and Torque teno mini virus (TTMV) are highly prevalent, non-pathogenic viruses from the Anelloviridae family that commonly circulate in healthy individuals. Their replication dynamics are closely linked to the host immune status, with viral loads typically increasing during immune suppression or dysregulation associated with viral infections, transplantation, or chronic inflammation. Emerging evidence suggests that TTV may serve as a biomarker of immune competence, with increasing interest in its role during SARS-CoV-2 infection. This study investigated the
