Progress towards achieving the goals and targets of the 2024 United Nations General Assembly Political Declaration on Antimicrobial Resistance for countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Asia Pacific countries are responding to the urgent call for action on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) stated in the 2024 United Nations General Assembly Political Declaration on AMR. We present the first regional summary of national data from 28 Asia Pacific countries compiled for the seventh Tokyo AMR One Health Conference in February 2025 in relation to selected Political Declaration goals and targets to serve as a baseline for planning and from which to measure progress to 2030. We show that (1) 15 out of 27 (56%) countries receive less than 30% of their total AMR funding from domestic sour…

Global Mind Project data in the United States: A comparison with national statistics.

BACKGROUND: The rapid growth of internet and mobile technologies has opened up new, low-cost methods for large-scale population surveys. The Global Mind Project (GMP) is one such survey that uses quota-based online strategies that dynamically target respondents by age, sex, and location. However, how well this method aligns with national population statistics remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate how well GMP data collected through online recruitment aligns demographically with United States (US) benchmarks from traditional probability-based surveys, including the American Community Survey

Prescribing diamorphine in the United States: Insights from a nationally representative survey.

BACKGROUND: Some countries allow physicians to prescribe pharmaceutical-grade diamorphine to dependent users who have previously undergone treatment but are still using street-sourced heroin; this is not allowed in the US. This study provides the first nationally representative US data concerning public support for prescribing diamorphine to dependent users. We also test the hypothesis that calling it "diamorphine" instead of "heroin" increases support for this approach. METHODS: The RAND American Life Panel is a nationally representative, probability-based survey of US adults. Of the 3345 pa

The National Landscape of Living Kidney Donor Follow-Up in the United States.

In 2013, the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN)/ United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) mandated that transplant centers collect data on living kidney donors (LKDs) at 6 months, 1 year, and 2 years postdonation, with policy-defined thresholds for the proportion of complete living donor follow-up (LDF) data submitted in a timely manner (60 days before or after the expected visit date). While mandated, it was unclear how centers across the country would perform in meeting thresholds, given potential donor and center-level challenges of LDF. To better understand the impact of t
