Angelicae Sinensis Radix exerts antidepressant effects by regulating erythrocyte homeostasis via the sphingolipid metabolism pathway.

BACKGROUND: Angelicae Sinensis Radix (AS), a commonly used herb in traditional Chinese medicine, demonstrates antidepressant effects potentially linked to erythrocyte homeostasis regulation. However, the precise mechanism by which AS modulates erythrocyte homeostasis to achieve its antidepressant efficacy remains to be elucidated. PURPOSE: This study investigated the mechanism by which AS regulates erythrocyte homeostasis in a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) rat model of depression. METHODS: Iron metabolism and hematopoietic function in rats subjected to CUMS were assessed using an

Integrative multi-omics elucidates the impact of microalgae on growth, quality, phytohormones, and rhizosphere microbiome of Angelica sinensis.

Microalgae have recently been recognized as sustainable biofertilizers that improve soil fertility while enhancing crop performance. However, their roles in regulating medicinal plant growth and quality, as well as the underlying ecological mechanisms, remain poorly understood. In this study, we systematically assessed the effects of three representative microalgae-Anabaena cylindrica (AC), Phormidium tenue (PT), and Chlorella vulgaris (CV)-on the growth, quality, hormonal regulation, soil nutrient dynamics, and rhizosphere microbiome of Angelica sinensis. Field inoculation trials demonstrated

Treatment with Z-ligustilide, a component of Angelica sinensis, reduces brain injury after a subarachnoid hemorrhage in rats.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a devastating stroke subtype accounting for approximately 3 to 7% of cases each year. Despite its rarity among the various stroke types, SAH is still responsible for approximately 25% of all stroke fatalities. Although various preventative and therapeutic interventions have been explored for potential neuroprotection after SAH, a considerable percentage of patients still experience serious neurologic and/or cognitive impairments as a result of the primary hemorrhage and/or secondary brain damage that occurs. Z-ligustilide (LIG), the primary lipophilic component

Immune-enhancing effect of Danggwibohyeoltang, an extract from Astragali Radix and Angelicae gigantis Radix, in vitro and in vivo.

Danggwibohyeoltang (DGBHT) is an oriental herbal prescription consisting of two herbs: Astragali Radix and Angelicae gigantis Radix. We examined the immune-enhancing effect of DGBHT in mice using the forced swimming test (FST) and in vitro tests in peritoneal macrophages. After daily oral administration of DGBHT, blood biochemical parameters related to fatigue were measured after the FST. The immobility time in the FST was significantly decreased in the DGBHT-treated group (200 mg/kg) on the 10th and 14th days. DGBHT (100~~200 mg/kg) treatment significantly increased glucose levels, acting as

Angelica sinensis polysaccharide nanoparticles can improve myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury by inhibiting ferritinophagy via the ATF6/NCOA4 pathway.

BACKGROUND: Ferroptosis aggravates myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MI/RI) by disrupting iron homeostasis, accelerating lipid peroxidation, and elevating reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Although Angelica sinensis polysaccharide (ASP) has shown protective effects against MI/RI, its clinical translation remains limited due to poor bioavailability and low target specificity. METHODS: To address these limitations, we developed ASP@PLGA-PEG nanoparticles using a solvent evaporation method and characterized their morphology, size distribution, and surface charge by transmission electron

Chemopreventive effect of Korean Angelica root extract on TRAMP carcinogenesis and integrative "omic" profiling of affected neuroendocrine carcinomas.

Angelica gigas Nakai (AGN) root ethanol extract exerts anti-cancer activity in several allograft and xenograft models. Here we examined its chemopreventive efficacy through gavage administration against primary carcinogenesis in the transgenic adenocarcinoma of mouse prostate (TRAMP) model. Male C57BL/6 TRAMP mice and wild type littermates were given a daily gavage (5 mg/mouse, Monday-Friday) of AGN or vehicle, beginning at 8 wk of age (WOA). All mice were terminated at 24 WOA, unless earlier euthanasia was necessitated by large tumors. Whereas AGN-treated TRAMP mice decreased dorsolateral pro

Possible treatment for cutaneous lichen planus: An in vitro anti-inflammatory role of Angelica polysaccharide in human keratinocytes HaCaT.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

Cutaneous lichen planus (CLP) is an autoimmune disease. Angelica polysaccharide (AP) has been found to exert immunomodulation activity. In this study, we explored the roles of AP in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammatory injury of human keratinocytes (HaCaT cells), as well as the underlying mechanisms. LPS-induced cell injury was evaluated by alterations of cell viability, apoptosis, and expressions of proteins associated with apoptosis and inflammatory cytokines. Then, the protective effects of AP on LPS-induced cell injury were assessed. The protein expressions of sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) an

Nephroprotective effects of ferulic acid, Z-ligustilide and E-ligustilide isolated from Angelica sinensis against cisplatin toxicity in vitro.

Cisplatin (CisPt), a chemotherapeutic drug applied against solid tumors, is highly detrimental to the kidney. The risk of acute kidney injury implies adequate patient hydration to ensure sufficient diuresis; this strategy, now implemented in clinical practice, remains however incompletely satisfactory. New pharmacological approaches relying on the discovery of bioactive compounds need to be developed. Based on previous studies reporting renoprotective activities for extracts of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels roots, three of its major active compounds, ferulic acid, Z-ligustilide and E-ligusti
