Conduct disorder refers to a persistent and repetitive pattern of problematic behavior, and is usually accompanied by deficits in cognitive processing of emotional stimuli. Behavioral and physiological correlates of these deficits have been the subject of sufficiently many investigations. Meanwhile, several theories concerning conduct disorder have been developed. However, the validity of these theories to explain the emotional processing deficits among conduct-disordered individuals has not been tested. Here we summarized four relevant theories, including "social-cognitive theory and social-i

Conduct Disorder is a diagnosis associated with behaviors at risk for the health and development of the subject, with high social costs and with serious consequences for the adolescent's life context. This disorder is predominantly found in the male population. However, girls with Conduct Disorder often have particularly severe and pervasive symptoms, with a high psychiatric comorbidity. The purpose of this article is to summarize the objectives of the project "FemNAT-CD", in order to promote greater knowledge of the clinical characteristics of females who show a Conduct Disorder in adolescenc

BACKGROUND: Conduct disorder (CD) is a common syndrome with far-reaching effects. Risk factors for the development of CD span social, psychological, and biological domains. Researchers note that predictive models of CD are limited if the focus is on a single risk factor or even a single domain. Machine learning methods are optimized for the extraction of trends across multidomain data but have yet to be implemented in predicting the development of CD.
METHODS: Social (e.g., family, income), psychological (e.g., psychiatric, neuropsychological), and biological (e.g., resting-state graph metric

OBJECTIVE: Our study aimed to compare the demographic characteristics of conduct disorder (CD) inpatients versus other psychiatric inpatients in children and adolescents, and assess the association between conduct disorder patients and the spectrum of substance use disorders (SUD).
METHODS: We included 800,614 psychiatric adolescent (12-18 years) inpatients, and this included 8885 inpatients (1.1%) primarily for conduct disorder in the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (2010-2014). ICD-9 codes were used to detect SUD, and a logistic regression model was used to evaluate the odds ratio (OR) for SUD

BACKGROUND: Few studies have investigated the impact of the psychopathic traits on the EEG of teenagers with conduct disorder (CD). To date, there is no other research studying low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (LORETA) technique using quantitative EEG (QEEG) analysis in adolescents with CD and psychopathic traits.
OBJECTIVE: To find electrophysiological differences specifically related to the psychopathic traits. The current investigation compares the QEEG and the current source density measures between adolescents with CD and psychopathic traits and adolescents with CD without

Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) and conduct disorder are common disorders and frequent reasons for referral to child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS). Figures from epidemiological studies in the US suggest that around 10% of children suffer from ODD and similar numbers from CD. Data from the UK estimates that around 6% of children and young people aged 5 to 16 years have a clinically diagnosed conduct disorder in England, with much higher rates in males than females.

OBJECTIVES: We explored the economic implications of conduct disorder (CD) among adolescents in 4 poor communities in the United States. We examined a range of expenditures related to this disorder across multiple public sectors, including mental health, general health, school, and juvenile justice.
METHODS: We used self- and parental-report data to estimate expenditures during a 7-year period in late adolescence of a sample of youths. We contrasted expenditures for youths with CD and youths with oppositional defiant disorder, elevated symptoms (no CD diagnosis), and all others. Diagnosis was

Atrial conduction disorders result from impaired propagation of cardiac impulses from the sinoatrial node through the atrial conduction pathways. Disorders affecting interatrial conduction alter P-wave characteristics on the surface electrocardiogram. A variety of P-wave indices reflecting derangements in atrial conduction have been described and have been associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) and stroke. Interatrial block (IAB) is the most well-known of the different P-wave indices and is important clinically due to its ability to predict patients who are at risk of th

INTRODUCTION: Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are neurodevelopmental disorders that affect social communication and present stereotypic behaviours. Comorbidity associated to conduct disorders is frequent, starts in infancy and, in general, continues into adulthood. It is sometimes associated with aggressiveness, negativism, self-harm and breaking social norms. It causes a high degree of dysfunctionality in persons with ASD, their family, professionals and those around them, and is the main cause of pharmacological treatment, hospitalisation and special education. Factors related to the symptom

BACKGROUND: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and aggression have been demonstrated to serve as risk factors of suicidal behaviours (SB). Non-suicidal self-injury disorder (NSSID) and Suicidal Behaviour Disorder (SBD) are among new diagnostic categories for further studies in the DSM-5 classification.
METHODS: We recruited 196 girls (aged 15.5 ± 1.2 years) diagnosed with conduct disorder (CD). All of them were assessed with respect of non-suicidal self-injury acts, suicidal attempts, psychopathology, self-esteem and general functioning.
RESULTS: Age of NSSI onset was significantly lower compar

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is typically characterized by inattention, excessive motor activity, impulsivity, and distractibility. Individuals with ADHD have significant impairment in family and peer relations, academic functioning, and show high co-morbidity with a wide range of psychiatric disorders including oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), conduct disorder (CD), anxiety disorder, depression, substance abuse, and pervasive developmental disorder (PDD). Family studies suggest that ADHD + CD represents a specific subtype of the ADHD disorder with familial risk factors

This study examined the diagnostic accuracy of parent and teacher reports for oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) and conduct disorder (CD) in 417 primary school children. Using the Disruptive Behavior Disorders Rating Scale (DBDRS) and a semistructured diagnostic interview, both informant groups were also asked about children's overall functioning. A best estimate procedure-combining all reports, interviews, and impairment ratings-served as the gold standard. Both parents and teachers predicted ODD and CD similarly and accurately. For girls, parents significantly predicted better ODD symptoms

Distinct empathy deficits are often described in patients with conduct disorder (CD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) yet their neural underpinnings and the influence of comorbid Callous-Unemotional (CU) traits are unclear. This study compares the cognitive (CE) and affective empathy (AE) abilities of youth with CD and ASD, their potential neuroanatomical correlates, and the influence of CU traits on empathy. Adolescents and parents/caregivers completed empathy questionnaires (N = 148 adolescents, mean age = 15.16 years) and T1 weighted images were obtained from a subsample (N = 130). Group

BACKGROUND: The most prevalent neuropsychiatric disorder among children is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). ADHD presents with a high prevalence of comorbid disorders such as conduct disorder (CD). The lack of definitive confirmatory diagnostic tests for ADHD and CD make diagnosis challenging. The distinction between ADHD, ADHD + CD and CD is important as the course and treatment are different. Electrocardiography (ECG) signals may become altered in behavioral disorders due to brain-heart autonomic interactions. We have developed a software tool to categorize ADHD, ADHD + CD an

BACKGROUND: Quality of life is the individuals' subjective evaluation of their general well-being, including physical and mental health, social relationships and everyday functionality. The aim of our study was to examine conduct disorder in terms of gender differences in prevalence, and relationship to quality of life domains in the presence or absence of comorbid oppositional defiant disorder.
METHODS: Altogether 392 adolescents, aged 13-18 years (M=14.5; SD= 1.37), participated in this study. The members of the clinical group were selected from Vadaskert Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Hos

Evidence for problems in executive functioning (EF) in children with oppositional defiant disorder/conduct disorder (ODD/CD) is mixed and the impact stress may have on EF is understudied. Working memory, sustained attention, inhibition and cognitive flexibility of boys with ODD/CD (n = 65) and non-clinical controls (n = 32) were examined under typical and stressful test conditions. Boys with ODD/CD showed impaired working memory under typical testing conditions, and impairments in working memory and sustained attention under stressful conditions. In contrast to controls, performance on sustain

OBJECTIVE: To examine the social, family background, and individual antecedents of conduct disorder (CD) and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), the extent to which CD and ODD symptoms were predicted by common environmental risk factors, and the extent to which the antecedents of CD and ODD accounted for the comorbidity between the two disorders.
METHOD: Data were gathered from 926 members of a New Zealand longitudinal birth cohort. The outcome measures were DSM-IV symptom count measures of CD and ODD at age 14 to 16 years. Predictors measured during the period from 0 to 14 years included th

About 50% of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) patients suffer from comorbidity with oppositional defiant disorder/conduct disorder (ODD/CD). Most previous studies on structural morphology did not differentiate between pure (ADHD-only) and comorbid ADHD (ADHD+ODD/CD). Therefore, we aimed to investigate the structural profile of ADHD-only versus ADHD+ODD/CD spanning the indices subcortical and cortical volume, cortical thickness, and surface area. We predicted a reduced total gray matter, striatal, and cerebellar volume in both patient groups and a reduced amygdalar and hippocampa
