Bioremediation of Turbid Surface Water Using Seed Extract from the Moringa oleifera Lam. (Drumstick) Tree.

An indigenous water treatment method uses Moringa oleifera seeds in the form of a crude water-soluble extract in suspension, resulting in an effective natural clarification agent for highly turbid and untreated pathogenic surface water. Efficient reduction (80.0% to 99.5%) of high turbidity produces an aesthetically clear supernatant, concurrently accompanied by 90.00% to 99.99% (1 to 4 log) bacterial reduction. Application of this low-cost Moringa oleifera protocol is recommended for water treatment where rural and peri-urban people living in extreme poverty are presently drinking highly turb

Evaluating growth and physiological responses of Moringa peregrina and Moringa oleifera to elevated CO₂ and UV-B radiation in open-top chambers for climate resilience.

Climate change poses complex and unpredictable challenges to the ecosystems and agricultural systems. Anthropogenic activities have increased CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere and changes in ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation. These environmental changes severely impair crop growth and production of crops, particularly in sensitive species. Therefore, evaluating the combined effects of eCO2 and UV-B radiation is essential for predicting climate change on crop systems and ecosystem stability. The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the tolerance of two Moringa species (Moringa oleifera and Mo

BACKGROUND: Periodontal therapy increasingly explores plant-based agents for targeted drug delivery. Moringa oleifera leaf extract exhibits potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and osteoinductive properties, yet conventional formulations fail to reach the periodontal pocket effectively. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate an oral film containing Moringa oleifera extract for potential localized periodontal application. Existing formulations fail to provide sustained, site-specific delivery in the periodontal pocket. This study addresses this gap by developing an oral film system that e

Characterization of the Anticholinesterase and Antioxidant Properties of Phytochemicals from Moringa oleifera as a Potential Treatment for Alzheimer's Disease.

Background/Objectives: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent form of dementia and is characterized by a decline in cognition that may be due, in part, to deficient cholinergic signalling. Cholinesterase inhibitors (ChEIs) are the first-line pharmacotherapies for treating the diminished cholinergic function in AD patients. Plant phytochemicals may provide useful ChEIs and mitigate other elements of AD pathology, including oxidative stress. Methods: Herein, the phytochemicals present in Moringa oleifera aqueous and methanolic extracts were identified by LC-MS/MS and the potential of sev
