Infection in Health Personnel with High and Low Levels of Exposure in a Hospital Setting during the H1N1 2009 Influenza A Pandemic.

A novel H1N1 influenza A virus caused the first pandemic of the 21st century in 2009. Hospitals had an increased demand of health consultations, that made it difficult to estimate the incidence of infection in hospital personnel due to asymptomatic presentations and the under notification of cases. To estimate and compare the rate of exposure of high versus low risk health personnel to 2009 pandemic H1N1 (H1N1pdm2009) influenza A virus in a University Hospital in Chile, we performed a comparative and prospective study. Serum samples were obtained from 117 individuals that worked in the emergen

Perceived changes in health care personnel attitudes toward influenza vaccination since the COVID-19 pandemic: A Los Angeles County hospital survey.

Influenza vaccination among health care personnel has declined nationwide since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. We surveyed acute care hospitals within Los Angeles County to examine worker attitudes regarding influenza vaccination and the impact of COVID-19. Comparing before and during the pandemic, we found increased safety and efficacy concerns, and decreased perception of disease severity and risk of influenza, suggesting that redundancy of established COVID-19 measures and pandemic fatigue may have contributed to vaccine refusal.

Prevaccination antibody screening and immunization program for healthcare personnel against measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella in a Japanese tertiary care hospital.

Susceptible healthcare personnel (HCP) are at high risk for acquiring and transmitting measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (MMRV). Presumptive evidence of immunity to MMRV is recommended for HCP. The aim of this investigation was to examine the seroprevalence of MMRV in Japanese HCP and the association with history or vaccination in terms of occupational safety. To improve infection control at our hospital, we also assessed their immune status by implementing prevaccination antibody screening and an immunization program with postvaccination serological testing. We implemented seroprevalence
