INTRODUCTION: The primary function of corono-radicular post is to provide retention for the core and to reinforce and to replace the remaining coronal tooth structure. There is considerable controversy regarding optimal choice of the material. An ideal post system should exhibit fracture resistance higher than the average masticatory forces. Finite elemental analysis (FEA) method facilitates precise analysis of the distribution and magnitude of stresses at any point of complex and irregular structures. Thus, this FEA study has been undertaken to evaluate the fracture stress distribution patter

Invasive cervical resorption (ICR) is a significant and often aggressive pathologic process that, unfortunately, might lead to tooth loss. The presence of such a lesion in the cervical area is always a clinical challenge. This article presents an ICR case in which successful treatment was achieved by combining 4 disciplines: endodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, and prosthetics. Forced eruption combined with fiberotomy was used in this case for pulling the root rapidly from within the alveolar socket, thus exposing sound and healthy tooth material beyond the affected zone suitable for crown

Severe pathologic tooth migration (PTM) secondary to chronic periodontitis presents significant functional and esthetic challenges. This report describes a fully digital workflow for rehabilitating severe anterior PTM using additively manufactured (AM) monolithic zirconia post-and-core crowns. Through digital planning, precise crown resection and ferrule and post space preparation were completed before an intraoral scanner captured accurate digital scans. The 1-piece restorations provided excellent fit and adhesion, significantly improved the axial inclination of the clinical crowns, and yield

OBJECTIVES: The aim was to investigate the fatigue survival and marginal-gap inside the root-canal of endodontically treated (ET) premolars reinforced by various fiber-reinforced post-core composites (FRCs). Moreover, composite-curing at different depths in the canal was evaluated.
METHODS: 170 intact upper-premolars were collected and randomly divided into ten groups (n = 15). One group served as control (intact-teeth). After endodontic procedure standard MO cavities were prepared and restored with different post-core fiber-reinforced materials and designs. Three-group (A1-A3) were restored

BACKGROUND: Endodontically treated teeth usually can reveal an extensive loss of dental structure and require the use of intraradicular posts to provide adequate support and retention. Retention of the post depends on the surface treatment of the endodontic post itself and on the root canal dentin as well as on the type of resin-matrix cement.
PURPOSE: The main aim of this study was to conduct an integrative review on the influence of different surface treatment methods of glass fiber-reinfored resin composite (GFRC) posts on their push-out bond strength to resin-matrix cements in endodontica

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to compare the influence of the number of coronal walls and post-endodontic restorations on the mechanical strength of 165 recently extracted endodontically treated maxillary premolars.
METHODS: The teeth were divided into 3 control (no post) and 3 test groups according to the number of residual walls. Each test group was divided into subgroups according to the type of post-endodontic restoration (single, oval, and multi-post techniques). Samples were prepared conforming to the assigned subgroup. A universal loading machine applied a load parallel to the lon

Localized infection in the primary teeth was reported as an etiological factor in the formation of a hypoplastic defect in the underlying permanent teeth. The purpose of this report is to present the case of a 10-year-old girl with an unusual local hypoplasia in the mandibular left permanent canine and emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary management, including combined apexification and orthodontic extrusion. The 12-month recall examination revealed no pathology associated with the rehabilitation, and the patient's esthetic and functional expectations were satisfied.

A subgingival crown-root fracture presents a restorative problem to the clinician because restoration is complicated by the need to maintain the health of the periodontal tissues. If the remaining portion of the root is thought to be enough to support a definitive restoration, the root may be extruded by orthodontic forced eruption after root canal treatment. Extrusion enables the remaining root portion to be elevated above the epithelial attachment. Endodontic posts may be useful in exerting vertical forces to the root for extrusion without buccal tipping. The following case shows multidiscip

Restoring endodontically treated teeth with extensive coronal loss often necessitates the use of post and core systems, with fiber posts increasingly favored for their biomechanical compatibility with natural dentin. This case report presents the clinical use of prefabricated glass fiber posts and a resin composite core to rehabilitate a severely damaged maxillary anterior tooth. A 24-year-old male reported with trauma-induced fracture of tooth #11, leaving it unsuitable for conventional restorative approaches. The treatment plan included root canal therapy followed by placement of a fiber pos

OBJECTIVE: Polyethylene fiber (PF) and fiberglass (FG) posts have been recommended for intraradicular anchorage when there is a significant loss of coronal structure. However, few studies have evaluated their performance in anterior teeth combined with direct restorations as an alternative to single crowns. The objective of this study is to compare the fracture resistance and failure modes of endodontically treated anterior teeth restored with a FG post, a biomimetic technique using PF, and a direct resin composite (RC).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty sound upper central incisors were selected,

Restoring extensively damaged endodontically treated teeth presents a challenging task due to the state of biomechanical deterioration affecting long-term prognosis. Therefore, the study aims to assess and compare the biomechanical performance of endocrowns and post core-crown restorations in anterior endodontically treated teeth with severe coronal structure loss. Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar for articles published from January 2014 to March 2024. Two independent reviewers screened and selected studies

UNLABELLED: The amount of residual dentin thickness and tooth position in the dental arch is crucial to determine whether an intraradicular post should be used. This study aimed to compare stress distribution on the root dentin of an endodontically treated tooth rehabilitated with CAD/CAM milled glass fiber posts (MP), cast metal posts (CMP), or prefabricated posts (PP) with or without ferrule support, using the finite element method.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A human upper central incisor was selected, scanned, and treated endodontically. The canal was then prepared for post-placement and scann
