Type 1 diabetes and its complications affect preeclampsia: A Mendelian randomization analysis.

Preeclampsia (PE) is a serious pregnancy condition. Having type 1 diabetes (T1D) during pregnancy increases the risk of adverse outcomes for both mother and baby. However, it is unclear whether T1D directly constitutes a risk factor for preeclampsia. The aim of this study was to investigate the causal relationship between T1D and PE using Mendelian randomization. Two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) and multivariate Mendelian randomization (MVMR) were used to study the relationship between T1D and PE. MR Analysis showed that there was statistical significance between T1D and PE (P = .003,

Circulating inflammatory proteins and osteomyelitis: A bidirectional Mendelian randomization and colocalization analysis.

Circulating inflammatory proteins (CIPs) have been implicated in the progression of osteomyelitis (OM); however, whether these proteins play a causal role or are merely a consequence remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the causal relationships between CIPs and OM using a bidirectional 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) approach. MR analyses were performed using genome-wide association study summary statistics for 91 inflammation-related proteins (n = 14,824) and OM (1881 cases and 3,91,037 controls). The inverse variance weighted method was used as the primary analytical approach, s

Potential drug targets for systemic lupus erythematosus identified through Mendelian randomization analysis.

So far, there is no clear pathogenesis and no cure for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The therapeutic benefits of existing drug therapies are far from ideal. The proteome is a major source of therapeutic targets. Therefore, new drug targets for SLE need to be discovered. Based on the STROBE-Mendelian randomization (MR) checklist, we performed MR to explore potential drug targets for SLE, using genome-wide association study summary statistics of plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and further replicated in the external validation. Bidirectional MR, reverse causality testing by Steiger fil

Toxoplasma gondii infection and brain inflammation: A two-sample mendelian randomization analysis.

BACKGROUND: Toxoplasma gondii is an opportunistic parasitic protozoan that can cause highly fatal toxoplasmic encephalitis when the host immune system is compromised. However, the transition from chronic to acute infection remains poorly understood. In this study, we conducted a 180-day observation of tissue damage and inflammation in the brains of mice infected with T. gondii. Subsequently, we investigated the inflammatory factors that T. gondii infection may alter using two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. METHODS: We first established a mouse model of T. gondii infection. Subs
