Effect of Casein Phosphopeptide-Amorphous Calcium Phosphate on the Microhardness and Fracture Resistance of Irradiated Permanent Human Teeth: An In Vitro Study.

Introduction Radiotherapy, one of the most important modalities of treating head and neck cancer, causes xerostomia, mucositis, and structural and chemical changes in dental hard tissues. These factors favour the commencement of radiation-induced caries. Aim The study aimed to evaluate the changes in enamel microhardness and fracture resistance after irradiation and the effect of casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) on the same. Materials and methods Fifty extracted human premolar teeth were debrided and cleansed using an ultrasonic scaler. In order to test for fracture

Effects of different concentrations of sodium hypochlorite on dentine adhesion and the recovery application of sodium erythorbate.

OBJECTIVES: Root canal therapy is the most effective and common method for pulpitis and periapical periodontitis. During the root canal preparation, chemical irrigation plays a key role. However, sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), the widely used irrigation fluid, may impact the bonding strength between dentin and restorative material meanwhile sterilization and dissolving. Therefore, it's important to explore the influence of NaOCl on the adhesion between dentin and restoration materials to ensure clinical efficacy. This study aims to explore the effect of NaOCl on dentine adhesion and evaluate the

Biologic restoration: the effects of composite inlays on patient treatment plans.

A technique for restoration of decayed and fractured teeth with composite inlays or onlays is presented. This approach conserves the tooth structure, requires less preprosthetic periodontal surgical intervention, and provides excellent functional results, while minimizing the incidence of post-therapeutic endodontic involvement. Two thousand seven teeth were restored using this technique over a period of 120 months, with a mean time of 59.6 months in function. The technique is described, and the advantages of this treatment modality are discussed.
