Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common neoplasm of the salivary glands. Though a benign lesion, proper recognition and management of this process is needed to avoid increasing enlargement of the mass, facial nerve impairment, risk of malignant degeneration, and recurrence after surgical resection. The epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment options for this neoplasm are discussed.

Pleomorphic adenomas are the most widespread epithelial tumours originating from the salivary glands. In almost 90% of the cases, they are localized in the parotid salivary glands. Pleomorphic adenoma is the most common tumor of major salivary glands, but it is unusual into the larynx. The AA. expose a case of a 74-year-old man who consulted for dysphonia and diagnosed as having a subglottic pleomorphic adenoma. The patient needed an urgent tracheotomy owing to the dyspnoea. Removal of the tumor was made through direct laryngoscopy. Literature on pleomorphic laryngeal adenoma is reviewed.

Of 209 cases of pleomorphic adenoma treated in a 30 year period, 38 were secondary referrals with recurrent disease following surgery. Of these, 25 were women and 13 men with a mean time to recurrence of 9 years 4 months. Thirty-four recurrences were in the parotid gland, three in the submandibular gland and one in the anterior faucial pillar. OBJECTIVES: To conduct a comprehensive proteomic analysis of normal salivary gland tissue, pleomorphic adenoma (PA), and carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma (CXPA), and validate the proteomic findings using immunohistochemistry.

Salivary tumors that involve the tonsil are rare, representing 0.5% of salivary neoplasms. Most tumors arise from the parotid glands. Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is a rare tumor of the skin that may arise from either the apocrine or the eccrine glands. Only 4 cases of PA in the auricle have been reported. We experienced the case of a 40-year-old woman who had a slowly growing, nontender auricle mass for 3 years. Under a clinical diagnosis of an epidermal inclusion cyst, we performed a total excision of the tumor with the skin and with direct closure. The clinicopathologic features of 2 new and 24 previously reported cases of pleomorphic adenoma of the breast are reviewed.
