Dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging in chronic Achilles tendinosis.

BACKGROUND: Chronic Achilles tendinosis is a common problem. When evaluating and comparing different therapies there is a need for reliable imaging methods. Our aim was to evaluate if chronic Achilles tendinosis affects the dynamic contrast-enhancement in the tendon and its surroundings and if short-term eccentric calf-muscle training normalizes the dynamic contrast-enhancement. METHODS: 20 patients with chronic Achilles tendinopathy were included. Median duration of symptoms was 31 months (range 6 to 120 months). Both Achilles tendons were examined with dynamic contrast enhanced MRI before a

Diabetic fibrous mastopathy: dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging findings.

Diabetic fibrous mastopathy (DFM) is an uncommon lesion that may clinically mimic breast carcinoma. Routine mammographic and ultrasonographic features of this disease also mimic the those of malignant disease, making an accurate preoperative diagnosis difficult. Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), however, reveals a homogeneous low-enhancement with a gradual and progressive course without a washout. A corresponding time intensity curve is related to benign lesions of low vascularity, and by being a potential criterion for making a differentiation between DFM and maligna

Contrast-enhanced dynamic magnetic resonance imaging of the rat kidney.

This study was designed to assess whether contrast-enhanced dynamic 1H magnetic resonance imaging (DMRI) can be used to detect the effects of the loop diuretic furosemide and the vasoactive peptide angiotensin II on tubular water reabsorption in the rat kidney. A bolus of gadolinium-DTPA-dimeglumine (Gd-DTPA) (0.025 or 0.1 mmol/kg) was used as a contrast agent. The signal intensity in the magnetic resonance images relative to the precontrast signal intensity (RSI) was assessed as a function of time in the cortex and medulla. In the cortex, no differences were observed between high and low bolu

Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Sonography and Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Preoperative Diagnosis of Infected Nonunions.

OBJECTIVES: Bone regeneration depends on perfusion of the fracture tissue, whereby hypervascularity is associated with infection, which itself causes nonunions. To date, nonunion perfusion has not been assessed with contrast-enhanced sonography. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of contrast-enhanced sonography in the analysis of nonunion tissue perfusion. METHODS: Nonunion vascularity of 31 patients before revision surgery was prospectively examined with qualitative contrast-enhanced sonography and dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Quantitative perfusion imaging in carotid artery stenosis using dynamic susceptibility contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging.

Quantitative, multislice dynamic susceptibility contrast-enhanced MRI perfusion measurements were used to determine the patterns of cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral blood volume (CBV), mean transit time (MTT), and normalized first moment of the tissue deltaR2-time curve (N) in 11 subjects with carotid artery occlusion or stenosis. MTT correlated with degree of carotid stenosis, whereas a range of alterations in CBF and CBV were found presumably reflecting variables degrees of collateral flow. There was no significant correlation between MRI and SPET flow perfusion measurements, with increas
