Angle Class I malocclusion treated with lower incisor extraction.

In planning orthodontic cases that include extractions as an alternative to solve the problem of negative space discrepancy, the critical decision is to determine which teeth will be extracted. Several aspects must be considered, such as periodontal health, orthodontic mechanics, functional and esthetic alterations, and treatment stability. Despite controversies, extraction of teeth to solve dental crowding is a therapy that has been used for decades. Premolar extractions are the most common, but there are situations in which atypical extractions facilitate mechanics, preserve periodontal heal

Dewey's Modification for Angle's Class I Malocclusion: Revisited.

Introduction Classification is a crucial communication tool between dental school professors and students, between practitioners, and between practitioners and insurance companies or government bureaucracies. The management of patients is significantly impacted by classification. Once a patient has been categorized, the practitioner will frequently use treatment strategies corresponding to that classification. The classification used by orthodontists most frequently is Dewey's version of Angle's categorization. To date, the shortcomings of Dewey's modification were not mentioned in the literat

Treatment of dental and skeletal bimaxillary protrusion in patient with Angle Class I malocclusion.

In the orthodontic clinic, skeletal and dental bimaxillary protrusion is presented frequently as one of the factors leading patients to seek orthodontic treatment, mainly due to the esthetic involvement it has. The patient of this article illustrates this situation, being deeply uncomfortable with her esthetic appearance, due to the excessive upper incisors exposure and problems with lip sealing. This case was presented to the Brazilian Board of Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics (BBO), as part of the requisites to become a BBO Diplomate.

Clinical Management of Dewey's Type 3 Anterior Crossbite in Angle Class I Malocclusion: A Case Report.

Anterior crossbite is a significant malocclusion characterized by the lingual eruption of one or more maxillary front teeth, often impeded by the mandibular deciduous counterparts. This clinical case study focused on a patient with an anterior crossbite involving the central and lateral incisors, detailing the diagnosis, treatment course, and outcomes. During the clinical evaluation, both aesthetic concerns related to attrition and occlusal malocclusion were identified. Diagnostic tests, including radiographs and extraoral and intraoral examinations, were conducted before initiating treatment.
