[Pediatric mild traumatic brain injury: strengths and limitations of magnetic resonance imaging].

Each year, 2.7 million children worldwide sustain a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), a condition that may disrupt neurodevelopmental trajectories and lead to long-lasting consequences, particularly during periods of heightened brain plasticity. This review summarizes advanced MRI sequences and their contributions to improving prognosis and preventing long-term sequelae following pediatric mTBI. Although studies consistently report persistent alterations, their interpretation remains limited by developmental variability, the underrepresentation of young children, and methodological heterogeneity, thereby underscoring the need for longitudinal approaches.
