Аннотация

Large-diameter full-thickness open wounds remain a critical clinical challenge. Herein, a novel gelatin (GL)-integrated Polyethylene Oxide-Gelatin-High Molecular Weight Chitosan-Berberine Chloride (PEO-GL-CS-BR) mucus dressing was fabricated via solution blow spinning (SBS) to address this unmet need. In vivo evaluations on SD rats showed that the 1.2% gelatin (GL) mucus dressing achieved 81.9% 15 mm-diameter-wound closure at Day 9, outperforming latest cutting-edge wound dressing reported in year 2025, which mostly focused on accelerating less than 8 mm diameter wounds. H&E and Masson staining revealed reduced inflammatory infiltration, enhanced granulation tissue formation, thicker neoepidermis, and increased collagen deposition in the PEO-GL-CS-BR group. This work provides a transformative solution for large-diameter wound management by leveraging synergistic effects of GL, PEO, high molecular weight chitosan (CS or HMCS), and berberine chloride (BR), bridging the gap between laboratory research and clinical translation. Due to the ease of preparation, the PEO-GL-CS-BR dressing exhibits great potential for large-scale production and clinical application, offering a superior therapeutic strategy for severe wound care.
