OBJECTIVE: Hysteroscopic sterilization (HS) has become one of the most common permanent contraception methods in the U.S. However, recent evidence suggests that the failure rate may be higher than previously reported. We describe women with a history of HS presenting for abortion at a 3-site urban abortion clinic.
STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective case series of patients with previous HS who presented to a 3-site urban abortion clinic for pregnancy termination from October 2012 to February 2015.
RESULTS: In 28months, 9 patients with prior HS had failure of the method and then an abortion.

OBJECTIVE: We present clinical data on two patients who underwent hysteroscopic sterilization (HS) 11 years apart using the Essure® (Bayer Inc., Whippany, NJ) device.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Symptoms and resolution are described for symptomatic Essure® patients.

BACKGROUND: Steri-Strips (3M, Two Harbors, MN, USA) have recently been employed for skin closures after orthopedic surgeries. Here we compare the performance of Steri-Strips and skin staples for wound closure after primary total knee arthroplasties (TKAs).
METHODS: A total of 76 consecutive osteoarthritic knees (71 patients) that underwent a primary TKA at our facility were included in this study. Thirty-eight knees received Steri-Strips for wound closure and were evaluated prospectively. The other 38 knees were closed with skin staples (Staple group) and evaluated retrospectively.
