The authors describe the diagnostic problems and difficulties of treatment of Warthin's tumor combined with actinomycosis. A 48-year-old woman was presented with a mass in the left parotid region and paresis of the lower left palpebra. The CT, echography, parotid X-ray findings supposed a neoplasm of the left parotid gland which was proved by intraoperative freezing histology. The ramus of the mandible was involved in the process. Papillary Cystadenoma Lymphomatosum or Warthin's tumour is a unique neoplasm arising almost exclusively in the parotid salivary gland and is composed of oncocytic epithelium with a prominent lymphoid infiltrate. The tumor is usually asymptomatic and may be associated with varying degrees of pain not necessarily an indication of malignant transformation in the tumour. The tumour is managed easily by surgical excision. This article presents a typical case arising in the right parotid gland of a 73-year-old male with review of literature of this rare tumour.

Salivary duct carcinoma is a rare high-grade neoplasm that more frequently affects the parotid gland. Though neoplasms of this type are infrequent in minor salivary glands, they are less aggressive and may lead to early diagnosis before distant metastases could occur. Salivary duct carcinoma is also the most frequent epithelial component of carcinosarcoma. The present article reports a case of SDC of the palate in a 26-year-old male and discusses SDC as a malignant epithelial component in carcinosarcoma.

We report the case of an 8-year-old boy with a parotid mass diagnosed to be a leiomyosarcoma. Considering the unresectable extent of the mass, the patient was subjected to radiotherapy. The patient developed distant metastasis following the course of radiotherapy and was put on chemotherapy. The child was lost to further follow up. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case in the English-language literature of such an entity in the pediatric age group.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ(10)) levels in human saliva were measured by HPLC with a highly sensitive electrochemical detector (ECD) and a special concentration column. This HPLC system showed satisfactory analytical results within the standard range of 0.78-50 ng/ml. We also found a significant correlation between CoQ(10) levels in plasma and in saliva from parotid glands, while this correlation was lacking between plasma CoQ10 and CoQ10 in whole saliva. OBJECTIVE: Women with previous gestational diabetes (GDM) are at increased risk of subsequent type 2 diabetes. To characterize early metabolic abnormalities associated with this increased risk, we studied normoglycaemic women with a history of GDM.
PATIENTS AND MEASUREMENTS: We performed an insulin-modified, frequently sampled intravenous glucose tolerance test (FSIVGTT) in 34 normoglycaemic European women with previous GDM and 44 European control women, deriving measures of insulin sensitivity, glucose effectiveness, glucose disappearance rate and acute insulin response to glucose.

Hodgkin's lymphoma with its primary manifestation in the parotid gland is a very rare entity. In previously published reports the diagnosis was established by postoperative histopathological examination. The present report describes a case of primary Hodgkin's lymphoma of the parotid gland, diagnosed by fine needle aspiration (FNA) cytology, and includes a short review of the diagnostic approaches to the parotid gland tumors.
