Early-Life Presentation and Phenotypic Variability of the IGF1R c.3595G>A (p.Gly1199Arg) Variant: A Case Report.

Most infants born small for gestational age (SGA) achieve spontaneous catch-up growth within the first two years of life; however, a subset remains growth-restricted and warrants further evaluation. Persistent short stature accompanied by microcephaly should prompt consideration of an underlying monogenic disorder. We report a term male infant born with severe SGA (birth weight -3.8 SDS; birth length -2.2 SDS) and microcephaly. At 16 months of age, his height was -2.7 SDS and head circumference -3.1 SDS. Initial insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) concentration was mildly decreased (-1.0 SDS)

First Report of Biallelic NPPC Variants Causing Acromesomelic Type of Short Stature.

C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) increases chondrocyte maturation and growth of long bones by acting on its receptor NPR-B. Increased activity of CNP and NPR-B has been reported to cause tall stature while decreased activity of NPR-B causes short stature. Monoallelic loss-of-function variants in NPPC, which codes for CNP, have been reported in patients with idiopathic short stature. We report a patient with acromesomelic type of short stature due to biallelic missense variants in NPPC which codes for CNP.

Acute activation of autophagy enables growth plate regeneration following radiation-induced injury.

PURPOSE: Radiation injury to growth plates commonly leads to skeletal late complications including short stature, limb length-discrepancy, and scoliosis/kyphosis in pediatric oncology patients. We aimed to understand the acute responses of direct growth plate irradiation that result in skeletal late complications. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We first established an in vivo murine model of focal growth plate irradiation that recapitulates the clinical development of skeletal late complications and used it to explore the responses of growth plate chondrocytes within the first 72 hours of radiation e

Isoform Runx2-II is sufficient for the development of calvaria, clavicles, and limb bones in the absence of Runx2-I.

Runx2 is an essential transcription factor for osteoblast differentiation and chondrocyte maturation. Heterozygous mutations in RUNX2 cause cleidocranial dysplasia, characterized by an open fontanel, hypoplastic clavicles, and short stature. Runx2 is transcribed from two promoters, P1 and P2, generating Runx2-II and Runx2-I, respectively. However, the function of Runx2-I remains unclear. To clarify its function, we generated Runx2-I-specific knockout mice by systematically deleting the P2 region while retaining the downstream sequence from the branch site for intron 1 splicing. Patterns of cross pollination between Bt and non-Bt corn and effects on Helicoverpa zea (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in blended refuges of short-stature corn and tall corn.

Short-stature corn became available to farmers in the United States in 2025. Advantages of short-stature corn over taller corn hybrids include lodging resistance, convenient sprayer access, and the potential for higher planting density. Corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea (Boddie), is an important insect pest of corn and other crops throughout the United States, but little is known about how corn earworm interacts with short-stature corn. Genetically modified corn containing genes from the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner (Bt) produce toxins that, once ingested, kill insect pests. Blended r

Integrated metabolomic-transcriptomic profiling of dwarf Camellia reticulata 'Hentiangao' reveals key gibberellin metabolism genes and multi-hormone crosstalk under GA3 treatment.

BACKGROUND: Camellia reticulata 'Hentiangao', a dwarf camellia cultivar, possesses distinctive ornamental traits and high value for urban landscaping. Dwarfism is an important agronomic and ornamental trait, and gibberellin (GA) plays a central role in regulating stem elongation and plant height. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying its dwarf phenotype and the interactions between stem development and endogenous hormone networks remain unclear, limiting the promotion and targeted breeding of this cultivar. We analyzed shoot tips of C. reticulata 'Hentiangao' treated with 800 mg·L-1 GA3

Thyroid ultrasonography versus scintigraphy for establishing a stepwise imaging approach in pediatric patients with thyroid dysgenesis in resource-limited settings.

INTRODUCTION: Thyroid scintigraphy and ultrasonography are the two primary imaging modalities widely used for thyroid visualization in pediatric patients with congenital hypothyroidism (CH). These modalities provide complementary information. In resource-limited settings, adopting a stepwise approach for selecting the initial imaging modality is essential. AIM OF THE STUDY: To compare the diagnostic performance of thyroid ultrasonography, thyroid scintigraphy, and combined modalities in categorizing the type of thyroid dysgenesis. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 56

Achondroplasia: Current Disease-Modifying Therapies and Genome Editing Strategies.

Achondroplasia (ACH) is the most common non-lethal skeletal dysplasia and is caused in the vast majority of cases by a heterozygous gain-of-function variant in fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3, p.Gly380Arg). Hyperactive FGFR3 signaling constrains endochondral bone growth by suppressing growth-plate chondrocyte proliferation and hypertrophic differentiation. In the past decade, management has expanded beyond supportive care, and several mechanism-based interventions have shown disease-modifying effects in clinical studies. These include the activation of the NPR2/CNP axis with vosorit
