Persistant Mullerian duct syndrome with intra-abdominal seminoma.

Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare form of male pseudohermaphroditism; it is defined by the presence of the Mullerian duct derivatives (the uterus, the fallopian tubes, and the upper vagina) in genotypically and phenotypically males. Seminoma is the most common type of testicular tumor in the third and fourth decade of life. We report a case of intra-abdominal seminoma in a patient with bilateral undescended testes and persistent Mullerian duct syndrome.

Female form of persistent Müllerian duct syndrome: A rare case report and review of literature.

INTRODUCTION: Persistent Müllerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare form of internal male pseudohermaphroditism characterized by the presence of rudimentary Müllerian structures in a virilized male often presenting as undescended testes. Thus, each patient diagnosed with undescended testes should promptly be investigated for PMDS because the early diagnosis has direct effects on outcome and prognosis. CASE REPORT: A 26-year-old-male complained of long-standing abdominal pain two years ago and was diagnosed having bilateral undescended testes in the pelvic region. He underwent the orchidopexy ab

Male pseudohermaphrodite with persistent Mullerian duct: A radiologist's and patient's dilemma alike.

This case study highlights that how a disorder of sexual development when goes unnoticed at birth and unreported during childhood or adolescence can present with major problems and even complications in adulthood. Since our patient was young and in a childbearing age, he presented with bilateral undescended testes and orgasmic anejaculation when he first came to the hospital. Subsequently, having a normal 46XY karyotype but remnants of persistent Mullerian duct made him little confused about his identity. After giving him the confidence, that he was still a male and could lead the life he did

Case Report: Denys-Drash Syndrome With WT1 Causative Variant Presenting as Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome.

The WT1 variant is confirmed to be pathogenic for Denys-Drash syndrome (DDS), a rare disorder characterized by early-onset nephrotic syndrome and renal failure, pseudo-hermaphroditism, and a high risk of Wilms' tumor. Several cases of DDS presenting with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) have been reported. Here we report the case of a 2-year-old child who was diagnosed with WT1 missense variant, associated with DDS and initial presentation of aHUS. Complement factor H autoantibodies were negative. Complement regulatory system-related gene variants were not found, but a de novo heteroz

Unusual Penile Prolapse with an Infectious Background Caused by the Burkholderia cepacia Complex in a Stallion.

Penile prolapse is a disease manifested by an inability to retract the penis into the preputial sheath. It is reported in a variety of animal species, especially in young and intact males. However, penile prolapse in horses is commonly caused by trauma, sexual activity, pseudohermaphroditism, or neurological deficits, and less often by an infectious background. The present case report aimed to determine the etiological factor of penis infection associated with penile prolapse in a stallion in Poland. Our report indicates that the infectious background of penile prolapse was related to the Burk

Hypofertility in a persistence of mullerian duct syndrome: Case report.

INTRODUCTION: Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome is a rare form of pseudohermaphroditism, possibly resulting from the absence of Mullerian duct inhibiting factor. PRESENTATION OF CASE: We report the case of a 36 year-old patient with a syndrome of persistent Müllerian ducts (PMDS) of the female type. The Clinical examination revealed avacant scrotum, a normal penis. The spermogram analysis found azoospermia. Imaging using ultrasound and tomotensidometry found the presence of amass in the back of bladder. A Laparoscopic exploration revealed two slightly enlarged testicles, in a pelvic situatio

Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome: rare presentation in an elderly man.

Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome has been described as a disease of internal male pseudohermaphroditism, a rare autosomal recessive disease, characterised by persistent Mullerian derivatives in patients with male pattern 46, XY karyotype and normal pattern virilisation. We present a case of an elderly man, who on evaluation for bilateral undescended testes was found to have a pelvic mass suggestive of malignant transformation of an undescended testis on imaging. On surgical exploration, uterus with multiple fibroids, bilateral fallopian tubes, cervix and bilateral atrophic testes were identi

Transverse testicular ectopia with persistent Mullerian duct syndrome: an operative eureka.

INTRODUCTION: Transverse Testicular Ectopia (TTE) is a rare entity in which both testes descend on the same side, and can be found in ectopic locations. When present with Persistent Mullerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS), a yet rarer entity, the persistence of Mullerian duct derivatives i.e. fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix and upper two-thirds of vagina occurs alongside testicular ectopia. There have only been about a hundred and fifty reported cases of TTE; a fifth of these accompanied by PMDS. Disorders of Sex Development: Classification, Review, and Impact on Fertility.

In this review, the elements included in both sex determination and sex differentiation are briefly analyzed, exposing the pathophysiological and clinical classification of disorders or anomalies of sex development. Anomalies in sex determination without sex ambiguity include gonadal dysgenesis, polysomies, male XX, and Klinefelter syndrome (dysgenesis and polysomies with a female phenotype; and sex reversal and Klinefelter with a male phenotype). Other infertility situations could also be included here as minor degrees of dysgenesis. Anomalies in sex determination with sex ambiguity should (u

A unique case of aggressive uterine cancer in a 45-year-old man with persistent Müllerian duct syndrome.

OBJECTIVE: Persistent Müllerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS), one of the causes of male pseudohermaphroditism, is a rare syndrome characterized by the presence of internal female genitalia (uterus, fallopian, tubes, cervix and upper vagina) in otherwise phenotypically and normally virilized men. METHODS: We present the 4th documented case of uterine malignancy in a 45-year-old man with PMDS presenting with lower abdominal protuberance and hematuria. RESULTS: Although testicular malignancies are common in undescended testis associated with PMDS, very few cases of müllerian duct malignancies have been

Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome with transverse testicular ectopia: A case report.

Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare entity of internal male pseudohermaphroditism. Transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is the condition in which one testis moves to the other side and both testes pass the same inguinal canal. The combination of PMDS with TTE is rarer. Here, we present a case a phenotype male with left inguinal hernia and right undescended testis. On exploration of left inguinal region, uterus like tissue with its tubal structures were found. Both testes were in same side, one in left inguinal region and the other in the left scrotum.

Male pseudohermaphroditism with os clitoris in three dogs.

Two American Cocker Spaniels and one Bichon Frise were presented to our veterinary teaching hospital with an enlarged clitoris. Diagnostic imaging showed that the structure was composed of bony material. Exploratory laparotomy revealed uterine-like structures and testes which had an epididymis unilaterally. Surgical removal of internal genitalia, gonads and protruded clitoris were performed well. Histological evaluation revealed; inactive testes, female internal genital tracts with ambisexual ductal remnants, and prominent ossification in the clitoris. All 3 cases were diagnosed with male pseu

Characterization of anti-Müllerian hormone in a case of bovine male pseudohermaphroditism.

The current report aimed to characterize plasma anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) in bovine male pseudohermaphroditism. The blood AMH concentration in a Japanese Black male pseudohermaphrodite calf was compared with pre- and post-pubertal male and female calves and castrated calves. The concentration in the case was higher than in post-pubertal males, castrated males, and pre- and post-pubertal female calves (p < .05), but similar to that in pre-pubertal male calves. After extraction of the testes, the concentration in the case dropped to a certain extent. The extracted testes expressed AMH, as det

Transverse testicular ectopia with persistent mullerian duct syndrome.

Persistent mullerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare form of male pseudohermaphroditism caused by defects in synthesis or actions of mullerian inhibiting factor characterised by persistence of mullerian duct structures in a normal karyotype male. Transverse testicular ectopia (TTE) is a rare disease in which both testes are located in the same inguinal canal. We report a case of PMDS with TTE in a 1-year-old child who presented with non-palpable testis on right side with hernia on left side. Left herniotomy with bilateral trans-septal orchidopexy was done in this patient.

Developmental asynchrony and antagonism of sex determination pathways in a lizard with temperature-induced sex reversal.

Vertebrate sex differentiation follows a conserved suite of developmental events: the bipotential gonads differentiate and shortly thereafter sex specific traits become dimorphic. However, this may not apply to squamates, a diverse vertebrate lineage comprising of many species with thermosensitive sexual development. Of the three species with data on the relative timing of gonad differentiation and genital dimorphism, the females of two (Niveoscincus ocellatus and Barisia imbricata) exhibit a phase of temporary pseudohermaphroditism or TPH (gonads have differentiated well before genital dimorp
