PURPOSE: To evaluate the astigmatic outcomes of wavefront-guided sub-Bowman keratomileusis (WFG-SBK) for low to moderate myopic astigmatism.
METHODS: This study enrolled 100 right eyes from 100 patients who underwent WFG-SBK for the correction of myopia and astigmatism. The polar value method was performed with anterior and posterior corneal astigmatism measured with Scheimpflug camera combined with Placido corneal topography (Sirius, CSO) and refractive astigmatism preoperatively and 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months postoperatively.

We report a 34-years-old woman who presented with bilateral incongruous inferior visual field defects after the commencement of topiramate for management of migraine. Investigations did not reveal any underlying angle closure glaucoma, reported in current literature to be associated commonly with topiramate associated visual field defects. PURPOSE: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of optic disc drusen and their associations with ocular and general parameters.
METHODS: The Beijing Eye Study included 4439 of 5324 subjects invited to participate (response rate 83.4%). All subjects were aged > or = 40 years. The present investigation involved 8594 (96.8%) eyes of 4324 (97.4%) subjects from whom readable fundus photographs of at least one eye were available. The main outcome parameter was the presence of optic disc drusen defined as round, whitish bodies.

As part of a multicenter study of excimer laser procedures, we performed phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) on 12 eyes in 11 patients. Three eyes had superficial corneal scarring, two Salzmann's degeneration, two Reis-Bückler's dystrophy; and one each with recurrent lattice dystrophy in a corneal graft, band keratopathy, recurrent erosion syndrome, after pterygium scarring, and contact-lens related keratopathy. Indications for treatment included poor visual acuity, severe glare symptoms, ocular surface discomfort, recurrent erosions, and monocular diplopia. Follow up ranged from 1 to 4 months.
