We present a case of spontaneous osteomyelitis of the left ulna in a 25-year-old man. There was no history of trauma or haematogenous source identified. Bone biopsy found staphylococcus aureus on culture, sensitive to flucloxacillin, but antibiotic treatment was unsuccessful. He underwent excision of the osteomyelitic ulna and a vascularised free fibula graft (VFF graft) reconstruction of the bony defect (18 cm in length), using the ulnar artery at the wrist as recipient vessel. AIM: The purpose of our study was to evaluate the dislocation and aseptic loosening rates of a dual mobility construct in revision total hip arthroplasty (THA).
METHODS: Three hundred thirty-four revision THAs performed between 2006 and 2011, using a dual mobility cup, were included in this retrospective study. Disposal of mercury waste has always provided unique challenges due to its high degree of complexity and volatility. This study evaluated the feasibility of using waste LF slag to form a cementitious matrix capable of providing an effective stabilization/solidification solution for the treatment of mercury wastes. The new matrix was synthesized and simulated through a combination of alkali activation and autoclaving process and doped with mercury nitrate at increasing dosage while monitoring the final form of the mercury and its effects on the mineral stability and structure of the new matrix.

BACKGROUND: Hydatid diseases of the pelvic bone are rare, generally incurable, and have high rates of recurrence.
METHODS: We report nine cases of osseous hydatidosis involving the pelvis. Patients were treated through different surgical options, including simple debridement, bone cement filling with or without internal fixation, reconstruction using a pedicle screw-rod system, and hemipelvic replantation after liquid nitrogen devitalization combined with femoral prosthesis replacement. The aim of the present study was the investigation of radiographic findings in relation to lung function after occupational exposure to permissible levels of relatively pure chrysotile (0.5-3% amphiboles). We studied 266 out of the total 317 employees who have worked in an asbestos cement factory during the period 1968-2004 with chest x-ray, high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and lung function tests.
