Importance of corneal spherical aberration in pupil area for multifocal intraocular lens selection: a case report.

BACKGROUND: This case report presents a unique approach to vision restoration following the implantation of an extended depth of focus (EDOF) intraocular lens (IOL) in an eye with negative corneal spherical aberration (SA) within a 4-mm area. Vision was successfully restored by modifying the corneal SA through topography-guided ablation (TGA). This novel combination of EDOF IOL implantation and TGA provides a potential solution for optimizing postoperative visual outcomes in patients with atypical asphericity induced by refractive surgeries. CASE PRESENTATION: A patient who had undergone LASI

Stereopsis Following Implantation of Presbyopia-Correcting Intraocular Lenses: A Narrative Review.

Recent advancements in cataract surgery have broadened its scope from mere vision restoration to include correction of refractive errors and presbyopia. This evolution has introduced multifocal and extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) intraocular lenses (IOLs), allowing enhanced vision across multiple distances. However, the influence of these advanced IOLs on stereopsis remains controversial. Factors influencing stereopsis after surgery include visual acuity, interocular differences, residual astigmatism, and the type of IOL, etc. Binocular vision integration and neuroadaptation further affect ster

A Case of Transparent Cornea Maintained after Removal of Dislocated Graft from Descemet's Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty.

INTRODUCTION: Corneal graft detachment is a major postoperative complication of Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK). When a corneal graft becomes detached, corneal endothelial function generally fails, and repeat corneal transplantation is required. Herein, we report a rare case in which a transparent cornea was maintained after the removal of a dislocated DSAEK graft. CASE PRESENTATION: A 79-year-old woman with a residual lens cortex who had undergone cataract surgery was referred to our hospital. The cortex was removed, and bullous keratopathy progressed. Six mon
