A review is presented of functional studies performed with the expanded T cells in Sézary syndrome, T-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (T-CLL), T-prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL), adult T-cell leukemia lymphoma (ATLL), T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) and T gamma lymphocytosis. In this study, the immune responses of Mesona chinensis Benth polysaccharides (MP) in vitro and in vivo were investigated. Results showed that MP presented immunomodulatory activities on macrophages and T lymphocytes in vitro. The role of cyclic AMP in mediating the prostaglandin (PG) E2-induced suppression of natural killer (NK) cell function was studied. Highly purified preparations of human large granular lymphocytes (LGL; which have been shown to be closely associated with human NK activity) and T lymphocytes were obtained by using Percoll gradients.
