Photobiomodulation as potential novel third line tool for non-invasive treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa.

Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is a severe inflammatory pathology of the skin characterized by chronic recurrent inflamed lesions, nodules, sinus tracts and abscesses usually manifests after puberty, which involves scalp, neck, axillae, perineum and infra-mammary areas. Nowadays treatment options range from short or long courses of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and biologic drugs, to surgery. Other suggested treatments consider the employment of laser devices, mainly microsurgical lasers (such as CO2 and intense pulsed lasers) and photodynamic therapy. This review explores the potential use of

Effect of speech-language therapy after low-level laser therapy in patients with TMD: a descriptive study.

Increased pain and/or discomfort during chewing, speaking, and swallowing have been commonly reported by patients with Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD). Speech-language pathology therapy (orofacial myofunctional therapy - OMT) has been proposed as part of the treatment for this condition; however, it is a modality that should be introduced when the TMD context and the pain are not accentuated, so that they do not prevent or hinder the performance of exercises. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of OMT on the treatment of patients with TMD, according to the Research Diagnostic C

Development of the theragnostic optical system for a high-intensity laser therapy (HILT).

Recently, high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) has been introduced for muscle disorders, but its efficacy has not been confirmed due to the absence of quantitative assessments and treatment feedback data in real-time. In this clinical study, a theragnostic optical system comprised of a high-intensity laser and a non-invasive optical monitoring system was developed to assess spasticity. To avoid interference between the two different light sources, the therapeutic wavelength for HILT was selected at 808 nm, one of the isosbestic points. The monitoring system based on a near-infrared spectroscopy

Prolonged Photobiomodulation with Deep Red Light Mitigates Incipient Retinal Deterioration in a Mouse Model of Type 2 Diabetes.

Diabetic retinopathy is a prevalent complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus, characterized by progressive damage to the retinal structure and function. Photobiomodulation therapy, using red or near-infrared light, has been proposed as a non-invasive intervention to mitigate retinal damage, but has been tested generally with short-term stimuli. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of prolonged photobiomodulation with deep red light on retinal structure and function in a type 2 diabetes mouse model. Transgenic LepRdb/J (db/db) mice were exposed to photobiomodulation therapy via LED devices
