Heterogeneous disability shocks and the dynamics of income, employment, and partial insurance.

This study examines the long-run economic consequences of disability, distinguishing conditions by the activities they impair. Using linked Canadian survey and administrative tax data, I estimate the effects of disability onset on detailed income components over a ten-year horizon and assess gaps in partial income insurance across disability types. Pathways to childlessness in Spain: Exploring the intersection of partnership and employment trajectories.

Spain's fertility is among the lowest in the world, due largely to an increasing number of childless women. Childlessness, whether a voluntary choice or not, often results from postponement of childbearing. This delay could be driven partly by the increased instability of partnerships and adverse labour-market conditions. Using data from Spain's Fertility Survey 2018, we use multichannel sequence analysis to identify the most common patterns of partnering and employment trajectories and then assess the likelihood of remaining childless at age 40 for each pattern. Results indicate that pathways

Mapping Employability Assessments for Adults with Limitations of Functioning: A Scoping Review.

PURPOSE: Work is a fundamental life domain, providing income, social engagement, and a sense of identity. Despite evidence that employment can support recovery, rehabilitation, and well-being, adults with limitations of functioning continue to face barriers to labor market participation. Employability assessments are central for access to vocational services, income support, and workplace accommodations, yet little is known about how these assessments are conducted across contexts. This study aimed to explore practices used in assessing employability among individuals with limitations of funct

The Effects of Extended Parental Benefits on Parents' Employment and Earnings in Canada.

Paid parental benefits, with individually earmarked time for mothers and fathers, aim to promote gender equality in labor force participation, wages, and childcare. The Canadian province of Québec expanded parental benefits over and above the federal policy in 2006 with the Québec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP), which introduced paid paternity leave and lower eligibility criteria as its key features. This policy aimed to increase gender equality by encouraging fathers to use parental benefits and expanding coverage to low-income parents. Using Canadian administrative data and exploiting the po

Employment in the Ecuadorian cut-flower industry and the risk of spontaneous abortion.

BACKGROUND: Research on the potentially adverse effects of occupational pesticide exposure on risk of spontaneous abortion (SAB) is limited, particularly among female agricultural workers residing in developing countries. METHODS: Reproductive histories were obtained from 217 Ecuadorian mothers participating in a study focusing on occupational pesticide exposure and children's neurobehavioral development. Only women with 2+ pregnancies were included in this study (n = 153). Gravidity, parity and frequency of SAB were compared between women with and without a history of working in the cut-flow
