The clinical course of Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) varies between individual patients. Early detection of risk is crucial to assign MCL patients to novel treatment strategies. Most of the established biomarkers of outcome require specifically trained pathologists or molecular analysis. INTRODUCTION: The routine histologic stains used in dermatopathology are usually hematoxylin-eosin-safran. In order to stain the mucins, specific dyes are necessary. The purpose of this study was to perform a routine quadrichromic stain which included Astra blue as specific dye of mucins. The applications of this hematoxylin-eosin-safran-Astra blue stain were evaluated after 5 years of systematic use.

Hematoxylin (HT) is a natural staining dye used in histopathology, often combined with Eosin for H&E staining. A poly(hematoxylin-co-l-lysine) (p(HT-co-l)) nanonetwork was synthesized through a one-step Mannich condensation reaction using formaldehyde as a linking agent.
