In situ carcinoma of the breast is divided into ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS). These two entities have different morphologic appearances and natural histories. BACKGROUND: Vaginal agenesis is a rare condition, therefore the incidence of a malignant transformation in the neovagina is extremely low.
CASE REPORT: We report on a 42-year-old patient with Morris' syndrome and urinary bladder neovagina with a history of prolonged infections of the urinary bladder and intertrigo of the perineal region. The biopsy revealed a squamous cell carcinoma arising from the neovagina. The patient underwent combined radio- and chemotherapy and was disqualified from surgical treatment because of the advanced stage of the disease.
CONCLUSIONS: Because of the high risk

PURPOSE: The optimal management of primary gastric non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (PGL) remains controversial. The purpose of this paper is to describe the histopathology, clinical behavior and management of 15 patients with PGL.

PURPOSE: This retrospective analysis aims to report results of patients with cervix cancer treated by external beam radiotherapy (EBR) and high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy.
METHODS AND MATERIALS: From September 1992 to December 1996, 138 patients with FIGO Stages II and III and mean age of 56 years were treated. Median EBR to the whole pelvis was 45 Gy in 25 fractions. Parametrial boost was performed in 93% of patients, with a median dose of 14.4 Gy. Brachytherapy with HDR was performed during EBR or following its completion with a dose of 24 Gy in four weekly fractions of 6 Gy to point A.

CASE REPORT: A 45-year-old patient with cervix carcinoma received combined radiochemotherapy including cisplatin. After a cumulative dose of 240 mg/m(2) the patient suddenly became somnolent and developed a severe tetraparesis and generalized seizures. After ruling out intracranial bleeding, cerebral metastases as well as infectious and metabolic causes of this condition, a severe toxic encephalopathy was diagnosed based on the clinical findings and MRI scans. After symptomatic treatment on the intensive care unit all symptoms were completely reversible.

Cerebral involvement of systemic mastocytosis and intracranial sarcoma of myelogenic origin are well known entities. An 8-year-old girl with an isolated cerebral mast cell tumor is presented. Specific histopathologic stains were used to confirm the diagnosis detecting immunophenotype and proliferative activity. Treatment with irradiation, intrathecal cytarabine, and interferon-alpha2b did not induce regression whereas polychemotherapy did. Systemic combination chemotherapy led to marked transient tumor regression in this proliferating mast cell sarcoma in an unusual intracranial location.
