Lipid accumulation product and endometriosis in women aged 18 years and older: A cross-sectional study of NHANES 1999 to 2006.

Endometriosis, a chronic gynecological disorder, is increasingly linked to metabolic dysregulation. The lipid accumulation product (LAP) - a biomarker integrating waist circumference and triglycerides - may provide additional information on this association but remains insufficiently studied. We aimed to assess the association between LAP and endometriosis in a nationally representative cohort. Analyzing 1999 to 2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 1792 women with self-reported endometriosis status, we calculated LAP as (waist circumference [cm] - 58) × (triglyceride

Evaluation of the lipid accumulation product for MASLD risk stratification in type 2 diabetes: establishing sex-specific thresholds and clinical utility.

BACKGROUND: While visceral adiposity and lipid dysregulation are established drivers of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), the clinical utility of the lipid accumulation product (LAP) for identifying prevalent MASLD in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains insufficiently characterized. This study aimed to characterize the dose-response relationship between LAP and MASLD in T2DM, establish optimal sex-specific diagnostic thresholds, and evaluate its clinical net benefit to guide non-invasive screening. METHODS: This study included 495 inpatients w

Sex-specific contribution of lipid accumulation product and cardiometabolic index in the identification of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease among Chinese adults.

BACKGROUND: Lipid accumulation product (LAP) and cardiometabolic index (CMI) are two novel obesity-related indexes associated with enhancing metabolic disease (MD) risk. Current evidences suggest that the differences in sex hormones and regional fat distribution in both sexes are directly correlated with MD and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) risk. Hence, NAFLD incidences reflect sex differences. Herein, we examined the accuracy of LAP and CMI in diagnosing NAFLD in both sexes. METHODS: Overall, 14,407 subjects, who underwent health check-up in the northeastern China, were enrolled i

Independent and joint predictive value of Lipid Accumulation Product and estimated Pulse Wave Velocity for incident depressive symptoms: Evidence from CHARLS.

BACKGROUND: Depression is a major public health concern worldwide, associated with considerable emotional, social, and economic burdens. Emerging evidence suggests that metabolic dysfunction and vascular aging may contribute to the pathogenesis of depression. However, large-scale population studies examining these associations remain limited. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the associations of Lipid Accumulation Product (LAP) and estimated Pulse Wave Velocity (ePWV)-markers of metabolic and vascular health-with incident depressive symptoms among Chinese adults. METHODS: Data were obtained from the

Association between lipid accumulation product index (LAP index) and coronary artery disease risk: An observational study based on NHANES 2017-2020.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a highly prevalent condition that predominantly affects obese individuals and those with metabolic abnormalities. The lipid accumulation product (LAP), combining waist circumference (WC) and triglyceride (TG) measurements, provides a clinically relevant metric for evaluating adipose tissue deposition. However, existing research findings regarding its association with CAD remain inconsistent. Therefore, this study further investigates the relationship between LAP and CAD to elucidate whether the LAP index can serve as a reliable screening tool for identifying in

Neutrophils as mediators of the association between lipid accumulation product and kidney stones, but not for recurrent kidney stones in US adults.

Kidney stones (KS) are prevalent and often recur, with obesity, metabolic disorders, and inflammation significantly impacting their pathophysiology. The traditional body mass index (BMI) has limitations, as it cannot effectively differentiate between fat and lean body mass or provide information about fat distribution. In contrast, the lipid accumulation product (LAP), which combines waist circumference and triglyceride levels, serves as a crucial indicator of visceral fat. This study examines the relationship between LAP and KS, including recurrent kidney stones (RKS), using data from the Nat

Lipid accumulation product and WHO risk chart-defined cardiovascular high-risk status in community adults: a cross-sectional analysis from the ChinaHEART program.

BACKGROUND: Lipid accumulation product (LAP), derived from waist circumference and triglycerides, may reflect central lipid overaccumulation, but its relevance for a screening-defined cardiovascular disease (CVD) high-risk label is uncertain. We examined whether LAP could help flag community adults who may need more formal risk assessment rather than serve as a stand-alone prognostic tool. METHODS: This cross-sectional analysis initially considered 6,860 adults aged 35-75 years from the ChinaHEART screening program in Luohe. After excluding participants with missing LAP or screening-defined C
