Impact of the 2023-armed conflict on routine malaria imapact indicators in Sudan (January 2020-March 2025): a mixed-methods analysis of surveillance data.

BACKGROUND: Malaria constitutes a major public health burden in Sudan, accounting for most outpatient visits and hospital admissions across approximately 80% of the states. The armed conflict beginning in April 2023 severely disrupted an already fragile health system, affecting the surveillance system infrastructure. No prior studies have assessed the impact of conflict on routine malaria surveillance data reported through District Health Information Software 2 (DHIS2). This study evaluated the effects of conflict on completeness and reporting of malaria impact indicators data across Sudanese

Children's Resilience in Crisis Settings: Experiences of Mothers and Paediatric Intensive Care Nurses.

BACKGROUND: Children exposed to armed violence and crisis-related paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admission may experience psychological distress, yet many also show resilient recovery. Existing literature has often focused on post-traumatic stress symptoms and risk of poor outcomes, with less attention to how resilience is supported through family, clinical and community relationships. AIM: To explore and compare mothers' and PICU nurses' experiences of supporting children's psychological recovery following exposure to regional armed violence and to develop an empirically grounded mode

Stabilization of Transcription Factor, HIF-1α by Prolylhydroxylase 1 Knockout Reduces Cardiac Injury After Myocardial Infarction in Mice.

Inhibition of HIF-prolyl hydroxylases (PHD1, PHD2, and PHD3) causes the stabilization of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α and -2α (HIF-1α and HIF-2α) to regulate various cell signaling pathways. Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) is crucial in regulating signal responses mediated by hypoxia. HIF regulates the transcription of many genes involved in the response to hypoxia and ischemic insult. Our current work investigates the protective effects of PHD1 knockout in mice against myocardial infarction. Study Design: Myocardial infarction (MI) was induced by left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) l
