Anger Rumination as a Moderator of the Association between Factor 2 of Psychopathy and Proactive Aggression.

Objective: Scholars have identified psychopathic traits as facilitators of intimate partner violence (IPV). Analyzing anger management strategies might clarify how these personality traits contribute to violence proneness. One potential moderator to consider is the tendency to ruminate about anger (or anger rumination). However, the pattern of association between psychopathic traits and violence proneness differs depending on psychopathy factors and the subtypes of violence expression (reactive or proactive). Therefore, the main objective of this study was to examine whether the two factors of

Dynamic risk factors reassessed regularly after release from incarceration predict imminent violent recidivism.

OBJECTIVE: In community-based corrections, reassessment of dynamic risk factors improves the prediction of recidivism relative to initial risk assessment at the time of release. However, there is less evidence for predictions of violent recidivism. We examined whether reassessment proximity or aggregation of reassessments improved the prediction of imminent violence in a sample of paroled individuals on community supervision. HYPOTHESES: We hypothesized that reassessment of dynamic risk would better predict violent recidivism than initial risk assessment at the time of release. Examination of

Trauma Type and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder as Predictors of Parenting Stress in Trauma-Exposed Mothers.

Trauma exposure is associated with various parenting difficulties, but few studies have examined relationships between trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and parenting stress. Parenting stress is an important facet of parenting and mediates the relationship between parental trauma exposure and negative child outcomes (Owen, Thompson, & Kaslow, 2006). We examined trauma type (child maltreatment, intimate partner violence, community violence, and non-interpersonal traumas) and PTSD symptoms as predictors of parenting stress in a sample of 52 trauma-exposed mothers. Community violence

Recidivism following spouse abuse abatement counseling: treatment program implications.

This paper examined demographic and personality characteristics of violence-free completers (n = 74) and violence repeating completers (n = 32) of a spouse abuse abatement counseling program. Chi-square analyses on categorical data, and analyses of variance on personality test data revealed several predicted findings. Compared to violence-free completers, recidivists reported higher levels of substance abuse both before and after treatment. Recidivists also showed evidence of higher narcissism, measured by the Narcissistic, Gregarious and Aggressive subscales of the Millon Clinical Multiaxial

The role of housing in determining HIV risk among female sex workers in Andhra Pradesh, India: considering women's life contexts.

Recent research on HIV prevention, regardless of the population, has increasingly recognized the relevance of contextual factors in determining HIV risk. Investigating such factors among female sex workers (FSW) is especially relevant in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, where HIV rates are among the highest across Indian states and where HIV has largely affected FSW. Stable housing is a particular contextual challenge experienced by female sex workers in this region (as well as elsewhere); however, local studies have not examined the impact of this issue on HIV risk. In this paper, we

The relationship between childhood abuse and violent victimization in homeless and marginally housed women: The role of dissociation as a potential mediator.

OBJECTIVE: Previous studies have established a link between childhood abuse and dissociation. Other work has shown childhood abuse increases the likelihood of violent victimization in adulthood. Although it has been posited that dissociation may mediate childhood abuse and adult violent victimization, research investigating this hypothesis is sparse, particularly for extremely vulnerable populations such as homeless and unstably housed individuals. investigated the relationship between childhood abuse and dissociation on violent victimization in a cohort of homeless and unstably housed women.

Prevalence of co-occurring forms of intimate partner violence against women aged 15-49 and the role of education-related inequalities: analysis of Demographic and Health Surveys across 49 low-income and middle-income countries.

BACKGROUND: Women experiencing co-occurring forms of intimate partner violence (IPV; ie, physical, sexual, and/or psychological) often face more severe psychological and health consequences than those experiencing a single form. However, research on IPV co-occurrence in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) remains limited. This study examines the prevalence of IPV co-occurrence in LMICs and its education-based inequalities. METHODS: Data from the most recent Demographic and Health Surveys in 49 LMICs (2011-2023) were used. Our primary outcome was IPV co-occurrence, defined as a woman aged

[Pelvic floor physical therapy among sexual abuse women survivors with genito-pelvic pain and penetration disorders].

Sexual violence against women remains a major public health issue, with nearly 15% of women in France reporting having experienced sexual violence during their lifetime. These traumatic experiences can have significant repercussions on both physical and psychological health. Chronic pelvic pain, genito-pelvic pain, and penetration disorders are frequently associated with a history of sexual violence. Their management often requires a multidisciplinary approach, in which pelvic floor physical therapy plays an important role. Some rehabilitation techniques involve intravaginal interventions, rai

Technology and Sexual Offending.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This review examines the literature on technology-facilitated sexual violence (TFSV). The prevalence, perpetrators, harms, and victims of a selection of types of TFSV are covered. Particularly, the topics of image-based sexual abuse, video voyeurism, sending of unsolicited sexual images, and the use of technology to facilitate in-person sexual violence are discussed. RECENT FINDINGS: The literature suggests that the types of TFSV discussed are prevalent and the impacts far-reaching. There is emerging evidence outlining the characteristics associated with and motivations beh

Dating Victimization Among Chilean University Students: Gender Roles and Christian Spirituality.

This correlational-multivariate, cross-sectional quantitative study differentially determined by sex the prevalence of dating victimization by violence, the self-perception of victimization, and the attempt to ask for help to end a problematic relationship, as well as analyzing the explanatory weight of the attitudes to gender roles and Christian spirituality on these variables. The study sample, non-probabilistic and by convenience, was comprised of 759 Chilean university students. 63.9% were women and the average age was 20.5 years (SD=1.69). Men report suffering more physical violence and vio

A cluster randomized controlled trial to assess the impact on intimate partner violence of a 10-session participatory gender training curriculum delivered to women taking part in a group-based microfinance loan scheme in Tanzania (MAISHA CRT01): study protocol.

BACKGROUND: Worldwide, almost one third (30%) of women who have been in a relationship have experienced physical and/or sexual violence from an intimate partner. Given the considerable negative impacts of intimate partner violence (IPV) on women's physical health and well-being, there is an urgent need for rigorous evidence on violence prevention interventions. METHODS: The study, comprising a cluster randomized controlled trial (RCT) and in-depth qualitative study, will assess the impact on women's past year experience of physical and/or sexual IPV of a participatory gender training curricul
