Tricyclic analogues were rationally designed as the high affinity niacin receptor G-protein-coupled receptor 109A (GPR109A) agonists by overlapping three lead structures. The activity and properties of RNA-dependent RNA-polymerase in cells infected with Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis virus were studied. The maximum activity of the enzyme was found 4-5 hours after infection. Musk odorants are used widely in cosmetic industries because of their fascinating animalic scent. However, how this aroma is perceived in the mammalian olfactory system remains a great mystery. Here, we show that muscone, one musk odor secreted by various animals from stink glands, activates a few glomeruli clustered in a neuroanatomically unique anteromedial olfactory bulb.
