Structured Education and Neuromuscular Exercise Program for Hip and/or Knee Osteoarthritis: A Health Technology Assessment.

BACKGROUND: Osteoarthritis is a chronic disorder and the most common form of arthritis. The joints most commonly affected are the hip and knee. The progression of osteoarthritis results in the breakdown of tissues and cartilage and the loss of joint function, causing symptoms such as pain, stiffness, reduced physical function, and limited movement. Although there is no cure for osteoarthritis, treatment options are available to manage symptoms and optimize quality of life. Clinical guidelines recommend education, exercise, and weight loss (when necessary) as the first line of treatment. METHO

Effectiveness of simulation technologies and virtual reality in enhancing empathy in health care education: an umbrella review.

BACKGROUND: Empathy is a cornerstone of high-quality healthcare, yet its cultivation among medical and nursing learners remains challenging, with noted declines during clinical training. Simulation-based education and immersive technologies like virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) offer promising avenues for empathy enhancement. This umbrella review synthesizes evidence from existing systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the effectiveness of these technologies. METHODS: We conducted an umbrella review following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Ten databases (PubM

Technology-Assisted Nutrition Education Program for Patients With Cancer Undergoing Gastrectomy: A Quasi-Experimental Study.

BACKGROUND: Self-editing tools for short-form video are being developed and adopted in the healthcare sector. However, evidence of their effectiveness for patient education remains limited. OBJECTIVES: This study developed a nurse-led technology-based nutrition education program using artificial intelligence-powered self-editing tools and examined its effects on patient knowledge, confidence, behaviors, and clinical indicators. METHODS: 41 patients who received a total or subtotal gastrectomy were enrolled. The experimental group received video-based nutrition education, maintained a lifesty

Assistive technology for students with intellectual disability: examining special education teachers ' perceptions in Saudi Arabia.

Individuals with an intellectual disability (ID) have complex learning needs, and often experience difficulty acquiring new skills that rely solely on traditional teaching materials. Assistive technology (AT) is a powerful tool that plays an important role in addressing many of the issues encountered by those with ID, via the integration of technology in their learning process. This study explores teachers' views of AT facilities in different special education programs for students with ID in the Makkah province of Saudi Arabia, in order to identify the uses of the AT tools used to teach them.

Nursing faculty perspectives on integrating emerging technologies in undergraduate nursing education: A qualitative descriptive study.

BACKGROUND: Emerging technologies (ET), including virtual, augmented, mixed, and extended reality alongside simulation-based tools, are increasingly available for undergraduate nursing education, yet their institutional and pedagogical integration remains uneven. Nursing faculty are central to this process, but their own experiences and perceptions of adopting ET have received limited empirical attention. AIM: To explore nursing faculty's experiences and perceptions of integrating emerging technologies into undergraduate nursing education. DESIGN: Qualitative descriptive study with a context

Aligning Undergraduate Dental Education with Primary Dental Care: Responding to Technological Change and Contemporary Practice.

Undergraduate dental education must prepare graduates to manage not only clinical procedures, but also the complexity, uncertainty and competing demands of contemporary primary dental care. This article argues for closer alignment between dental schools and primary care in the design, delivery and assessment of undergraduate education. It considers the value of authentic primary care and outreach learning, greater integration of dental and dental care professional students, and assessment approaches that emphasise longitudinal capability and management of patients. It also examines how digital

Patterns, advances, and gaps in using ChatGPT and similar technologies in nursing education: A PAGER scoping review.

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Generative AI (GenAI) can transform nursing education and modernise content delivery. However, the rapid integration of these tools has raised concerns about academic integrity and teaching quality. Previous reviews have either looked broadly at artificial intelligence or focused narrowly on single tools like ChatGPT. This scoping review uses a structured framework to identify patterns, advances, gaps, evidence, and recommendations for implementing GenAI in nursing education. METHODS: This scoping review followed the JBI methodology and PRISMA-ScR guidelines. We searched P

Workplace injury management: using new technology to deliver and evaluate physician continuing medical education.

OBJECTIVE: Physicians typically receive little continuing medical education (CME) about their role in workplace injury management as well as on workplace injuries and disease. Although new technologies may help educate physicians in these areas, careful evaluation is required, given the understudied nature of these interventions. The objective of this study is to evaluate two promising new technologies to deliver CME (online learning and videoconferencing) and to compare the effectiveness of these delivery methods to traditional CME interventions (large urban traditional conference lectures an

Advancing Digital Education Technologies by Empowering Nurses With Point-of-Care Ultrasound: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study.

BACKGROUND: Bedside ultrasonography, also known as point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS), is a promising technological tool that enhances clinical assessment, enriching diagnostic capabilities and clinical reasoning. Its use in nursing spans various patient populations and health care settings, providing nurses with a valuable health assessment tool to improve care quality and patient safety. Despite its growing integration into clinical practice, PoCUS training has mainly focused on physicians, leaving a gap for trained nurses who demonstrate similar proficiency in conducting scans and interpretin

Use of digital technologies for staff education and training programmes on newborn resuscitation and complication management: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Poor-quality care is linked to higher rates of neonatal mortality in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs). Limited educational and upskilling opportunities for healthcare professionals, particularly those who work in remote areas, are key barriers to providing quality neonatal care. Novel digital technologies, including mobile applications and virtual reality, can help bridge this gap. This scoping review aims to identify, analyse and compare available digital technologies for staff education and training to improve newborn care. METHODS: We conducted a structured search

Special Education Teachers' Use of Technologies During the COVID-19 Era (Spring 2020-Fall 2021).

UNLABELLED: Neoantigen (NeoAg)-based vaccines have emerged as promising immunotherapeutic approaches for lung cancer (LC) treatment. However, the high mutational variability of p53 protein poses challenges for durable vaccine design. In this study, we implemented a coevolution-guided immunoinformatics approach to design an epitope-based multi-epitope peptide vaccine targeting p53. We analyzed 224 homologous p53 sequences to identify coevolving amino acids using compensation and correlation methodologies. Compensation analysis identified 12 coevolving groups comprising 26 residues (6.6%), where

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This scoping review synthesizes contemporary evidence on the role of simulation, uro-technology and structured training curricula in shaping the next generation of endourologists, both inside and outside of the operating theatre. RECENT FINDINGS: A broad range of simulation platforms - spanning low-fidelity benchtop models, virtual reality systems and high-fidelity hybrid simulators - have demonstrated validity in endourological training across ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, transurethral surgery and laparoscopy, with several also showing skill transfer to the
