Correlation Between Total Repair Timing and Late Aortic Root Dilatation in Repaired Tetralogy of Fallot.

Aortic root dilatation is frequently encountered in adults with repaired Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). The timing of total repair is known to have a significant correlation with late aortic root dilatation, but it is not well established. The objective of this study was to investigate the risk factors and correlation with timing of total repair for aortic root dilatation in adults with repaired TOF. An observational retrospective cohort study was conducted in 314 adults (≥ 18 years) with repaired TOF. Aortic root dilatation was defined when the absolute diameter of Sinus of Valsalva (SoV) was ove

Multiple Idiopathic External Apical Root Resorption: A Case Report of a Rare Entity.

Idiopathic root resorption is characterized by the gradual destruction of tooth roots without a clear cause; the possible underlying factors include genetic predispositions, immune system abnormalities, or environmental influences. This case report highlights an unusual instance of a 27-year-old young female patient who presented with multiple decayed teeth; the orthopantomographic examination incidentally revealed extensive root resorptions. Thorough biochemical investigations such as acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyroni

Clinical study on prognostic factors for autotransplantation of teeth with complete root formation.

Autotransplantation is often performed to replace a missing tooth, but tooth autotransplantation has been reported in fewer teeth with complete root formation than those with incomplete root formation. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the factors that affect the prognosis of autotransplantation of teeth with complete root formation. 109 patients with 117 transplants were studied. Of the 117 transplants investigated, 14 (12%) failed during the observation period. The overall 1-year survival rate was 96%; the 5-year survival rate was 84%. The major causes of failure were unsucce

Patterns of stress distribution of endodontically treated molar under different types of loading using finite element models-the exploring of mechanism of vertical root fracture.

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to explore the mechanism of vertical root fracture (VRF) using three-dimensional finite element models (FEMs). METHODS: An endodontically treated mandibular first molar with a subtle VRF was collected and scanned with cone beam CT (CBCT). Three finite element analysis models were created: Model 1 had the actual endodontically treated root canal size; Model 2 had the same root canal size as the contralateral homonymous tooth; and Model 3 had the root canal size expanded by 1 mm based on Model 1. Different types of loading were performed on these 3 FE

Assessment of Digital Intraoral Periapical Radiograph for the Detection of Apical Root Resorption in Inflammatory Periapical Pathologies: A Radiovisiography Study.

Introduction Resorption often takes the form of external inflammatory root resorption. Apical periodontitis or an apical cyst is the most typical cause of external inflammatory root resorption. Failure of endodontic treatment can occur if severe apical root resorption occurs. This is due to the difficulty of reaching these sites.Apical root resorption is usually discovered during routine radiographs and is usually in its later stages. If the lesion is advanced, extraction is the only viable solution. An accurate diagnosis of incipient root resorption is essential. This research is designed to a

The effect of photobiomodulation on root resorption during orthodontic treatment.

Photobiomodulation is used to accelerate tooth movement during orthodontic treatments. The changes in root morphology in a group of orthodontic patients who received photobiomodulation were evaluated using the cone beam computed tomography technique. The device used is called OrthoPulse, which produces low levels of light with a near infrared wavelength of 850 nm and an intensity of 60 mW/cm(2) continuous wave. Twenty orthodontic patients were recruited for these experiments, all with class 1 malocclusion and with Little's Irregularity Index (>2 mm) in either of the arches. Root resorption was

Hypoplastic root cementum and premature loss of primary teeth in Coffin-Lowry syndrome: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Coffin-Lowry syndrome (CLS) is a rare genetic disorder. The syndrome presents with psychomotor retardation, short stature, skeletal deformations, digit abnormalities, and distinctive facial features. Oral and dental findings in CLS are common and they include thick prominent lips, high palate, midline lingual furrow, hypodontia, microdontia, delayed eruption, and early tooth loss. Only one earlier case suggesting hypoplastic root cementum as cause for primary loss of teeth in CLS has been published. CASE REPORT: This case describes a 3-year-old boy with premature loss of primary i
