Diagnostic utility of coronary artery calcium score percentiles and categories to exclude abnormal scans and relevant ischemia in rubidium positron emission tomography.

BACKGROUND: Despite clinical suspicion, most non-invasive ischemia tests for coronary artery disease (CAD) reveal unremarkable results. Patients with a coronary artery calcium score (CACS) of zero rarely have an abnormal positron emission tomography (PET) and could be deferred from further testing. However, most patients have some extent of coronary calcification. OBJECTIVES: CACS percentiles could be useful to exclude abnormal perfusion in patients with CACS >0, but data from patients with 82Rb PET are lacking. The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic utility of CACS percentiles in

Comparing changes in severe versus mild perfusion defect size in patients who underwent serial rubidium-82 positron emission tomography myocardial perfusion imaging.

Serial myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is valuable for assessing coronary disease progression and treatment efficacy. Previous serial MPI studies emphasized severe perfusion defects, with no attention given to milder perfusion defects. Thus, this study sought to compare and identify predictors of change in severe versus mild perfusion defect size in patients who underwent serial positron emission tomography (PET) MPI. Serial PET MPI was performed in 551 patients with an average of 1.9 years between scans. Severe and mild perfusion defect size at both PETs were derived from automated softwar

Investigations on trace elements in normal and senile cataractous lenses. Activation analysis of copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, rubidium, scandium, and nickel.

A total of 125 human lenses (97 senile cataractous and 28 clear) were analyzed by means of neutron activation analysis for trace element concentrations of copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, rubidium, scandium, and nickel. Tt was found that the rubidium concentration remarkably decreased and the copper concentration moderately increased with the progression of cataract. The concentrations of manganese, zinc, and cobalt showed some fluctuations without a definite increase or decrease, and the scandium and nickel content was found to be very low.

Are the elements zinc, copper, magnesium, and rubidium related to nutrition and iodine deficiency in pregnant Bulgarian women from iodine deficient region?

OBJECTIVE: Trace elements are essential for the biochemistry of the cell. Their reference values have been found to differ considerably in pregnant women stratified by age, place of residence, anthropometric status, and length of pregnancy. In optimal amounts, these elements reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. Subclinical hypothyroidism in pregnancy is associated with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. The aim of the study was to determine the effects of zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), magnesium (Mg), and rubidium (Rb) on pregnant women in an iodine deficiency region and find the relation

Prognostic implications of myocardial perfusion imaging by 82-rubidium positron emission tomography in male and female patients with angina and no perfusion defects.

AIMS: Myocardial perfusion imaging with 82-rubidium positron emission tomography (82Rb-PET) is increasingly used to assess stable coronary artery disease (CAD). We aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of 82Rb-PET-derived parameters in patients with symptoms suggestive of CAD but no significant reversible or irreversible perfusion defects. METHODS AND RESULTS: Among 3726 consecutive patients suspected of stable CAD who underwent 82Rb-PET between January 2018 and August 2020, 2175 had no regional perfusion defects. Among these patients, we studied the association of 82Rb-PET-derived parameter

Protein biomarkers and coronary microvascular dilatation assessed by rubidium-82 PET in women with angina pectoris and no obstructive coronary artery disease.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: While a plethora of biomarkers have been shown to be associated with coronary artery disease, studies assessing biomarkers in coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) are few. We investigated associations between cardiovascular protein biomarkers and non-endothelium dependent CMD assessed by positron emission tomography (PET). METHODS: In 97 women with angina pectoris and no significant obstructive coronary artery disease (<50% stenosis on invasive coronary angiography), CMD was defined as myocardial blood flow reserve (MBFR) < 2.5 by rubidium-82 PET. Blood samples were a

Simultaneous Interfacial Defect Passivation and Bottom-Up Excess PbI2 Management via Rubidium Chloride in Highly Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells with Suppressed Hysteresis.

In halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs), moderate lead iodide (PbI2) can enhance device efficiency by providing some passivation effects, but extremely active PbI2 leads to the current density-voltage hysteresis effect and device instability. In addition, defects distributed on the buried interface of tin oxide (SnO2)/perovskite will lead to the photogenerated carrier recombination. Here, rubidium chloride (RbCl) is introduced at the buried SnO2/perovskite interface, which not only acts as an interfacial passivator to interact with the uncoordinated tin ions (Sn4+) and fill the oxygen vacancy

Exploratory Evaluation of Quantitative Rubidium-82 PET Myocardial Perfusion Parameters: Absolute Blood Flow, Flow Reserve, and Left Ventricular Function in an Arabian Gulf Cohort.

Background/Objectives: Rubidium-82 (82Rb) PET myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) yields, in a single study, quantitative absolute myocardial blood flow (MBF, mL/min/g), myocardial flow reserve (MFR), and gated left ventricular (LV) function (LVEF, EDV, ESV, SV). These quantitative values depend on the tracer, scanner, kinetic model, software, and underlying population and have been characterised almost exclusively in North American and European cohorts. The Arabian Gulf, where Kuwait has among the highest age-standardised diabetes prevalence worldwide (25.6%), is essentially unstudied, so the

The measurement of spleen perfusion in man: a non-invasive method using the ratio between Rubidium-81 and its decay product Krypton-81m.

A non-invasive method has been developed for measuring spleen perfusion in man. This involves recording the gamma-ray energy spectra over the spleen following the localisation of Rubidium-81 within the organ by injecting intravenously labelled heat denatured red cells. The spectra are analysed to provide the ratio of Rubidium-81 to its radioactive decay product Krypton-81 m. This ratio is dependent on the rate of perfusion through the organ. The difficulties encountered in applying this steady state method for monitoring tissue perfusion are illustrated and practical means for their solution p

Dynamic rubidium-82 PET/CT as a novel tool for quantifying hemodynamic differences in renal blood flow using a one-tissue compartment model.

PURPOSE: Assessing renal perfusion in-vivo is challenging and quantitative information regarding renal hemodynamics is hardly incorporated in medical decision-making while abnormal renal hemodynamics might play a crucial role in the onset and progression of renal disease. Combining physiological stimuli with rubidium-82 positron emission tomography/computed tomography (82Rb PET/CT) offers opportunities to test the kidney perfusion under various conditions. The aim of this study is: (1) to investigate the application of a one-tissue compartment model for measuring renal hemodynamics with dynami

Assessment of sestamibi CZT-SPECT reconstructed using deep-learning-based virtual attenuation correction maps according to coronary artery territory and with comparison to rubidium-PET.

BACKGROUND: Attenuation artifacts affect the analysis of single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion imaging, especially in the right coronary artery (RCA) territory, although computed tomography (CT)-based attenuation corrections minimize this issue. This study aims to assess stress-rest [99mTc]sestamibi cadmium zinc telluride (CZT)-SPECT reconstructed using deep-learning-based attenuation correction (DLAC) maps according to coronary artery territory and with comparison to [82Rb]rubidium-positron emission tomography (Rb-PET) conventionally reconstructed with CT-bas

Coronary Microvascular Disease Assessed by 82-Rubidium Positron Emission Tomography Myocardial Perfusion Imaging Is Associated With Small Vessel Disease of the Kidney and Brain.

Background Coronary microvascular disease (CMD) may be part of a systemic small vessel disease that also manifests as neurological impairment and kidney disease. However, clinical evidence supporting a potential link is scarce. We assessed whether CMD is associated with an increased risk of small vessel disease in the kidney and brain. Methods and Results A retrospective multicenter (n=3) study of patients clinically referred to 82-rubidium positron emission tomography myocardial perfusion imaging was conducted between January 2018 and August 2020. The effects of elevated glucose on Na+/K(+)-ATPase of cultured bovine retinal pigment epithelial cells measured by a new nonradioactive rubidium uptake assay.

The effects of stimulated hyperglycemia on the Na+/K(+)-ATPase activity of cultured bovine retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells were investigated. Total Rb+ uptake, measured by a chromatographic method, was decreased 20-30% by 55.5 mM glucose relative to 5.55 mM glucose for culture periods of 2 to 28 days. An acute hyperglycemic stress (< 1 week) had no effect on ouabain-inhibition of Rb+ uptake or ouabain binding to RPE cells (IC50 = 55 nM for both processes) and did not alter the IC50 value (near 10 nM) for binding of strophanthidin, another selective Na+/K(+)-ATPase inhibitor. Semi-quantitative myocardial perfusion measured by computed tomography in patients with refractory angina: a head-to-head comparison with quantitative rubidium-82 positron emission tomography as reference.

INTRODUCTION: Computed tomography (CT) is a novel method for assessment of myocardial perfusion and has not yet been compared to rubidium-82 positron emission tomography (PET). We aimed to compare CT measured semi-quantitative myocardial perfusion with absolute quantified myocardial perfusion using PET and to detect stenotic territories in patients with severe coronary artery disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eighteen patients with stenosis narrowing coronary arteries ≥70% demonstrated on invasive coronary angiography underwent rest and adenosine stress imaging obtained by 320-multidetector CT
