A dense interlenticular opacification developed 18 months after cataract surgery in a hyperopic patient with 2 acrylic piggyback intraocular lenses (IOLs) placed in the capsular bag. The patient developed a hyperopic shift with decreased vision, requiring explantation of the lenses. The wear of polyethylene components of total hip replacements has previously been studied radiographically and by analysis of retrieved components.
