AgBF4-catalyzed insertion of unactivated alkynes into C-F bonds of acyl fluorides.

We report an AgBF4-catalyzed intermolecular C-F insertion of unactivated alkynes into acyl fluorides, providing a general route to monofluoroalkenes. This transformation enables both C-F bond cleavage and reformation without activated coupling partners, driven by cooperative Ag+/BF4 - catalysis, where BF4 - functions as a fluoride shuttle. The reaction exhibits broad substrate scope, accommodating aromatic and aliphatic acyl fluorides with high Z-selectivity. Given that monofluoroalkenes are valuable amide bioisosteres, this method enables direct access to bio-relevant motifs from carboxylic a

From ynones to alkynes via nickel catalyzed decarbonylative reconstructive C-C bond coupling.

A distinct nickel-catalyzed intramolecular decarbonylative reconstructive C-C coupling of unstrained ynones into alkynes is described. The directing group-free protocol accommodates diverse ynones bearing (hetero)aryl, alkenyl, alkyl, and alkynyl substituents, delivering the desired products in good to excellent yields under simple conditions with low catalyst loadings and excellent functional-group tolerance. Importantly, alkyl-substituted ynones undergo efficient C(sp3)-C(sp) coupling, offering a complementary approach to alkyne synthesis beyond traditional Sonogashira-type methodologies tha

Synthesis of Arenesulfenyl Fluorides and Fluorosulfenylation of Alkenes, Alkynes, and α-Diazocarbonyl Compounds.

Sulfenyl fluorides are organic compounds of sulfur in formal oxidation state +2 with the formula R-S-F. Although the chloride, bromide, and iodide analogues have been extensively described in the literature, arenesulfenyl fluorides remain essentially unstudied. These structures have been implicated as putative intermediates in established processes to access polyfluorinated sulfur species; however, definitive and direct evidence of their existence has not been obtained, nor has a systematic understanding of their reactivity. Here, we report the synthesis, isolation, and spectroscopic character

TBHP Promotes Cross-Dehydrogenative Coupling of SF4 Alkynes with Tetrahydroisoquinolines under Copper Catalysis.

We present a viable approach for the cross-dehydrogenative coupling of Het-SF4-alkynes with tetrahydroisoquinolines under oxidative conditions, using TBHP and copper catalysts. These newly developed conditions boast enhanced yields and a more extensive range of substrates, demonstrating tolerance to various functional groups and addressing the limitations of earlier reports. Consequently, this method should increase opportunities for the exploration of SF4-containing compounds and their potential applications in drug discovery, materials science, and as alternatives to PFAS.

Difluoromethylarylation of Alkynes from [Bis(difluoroacetoxy)iodo]benzene: Access to CF2H-Containing Dibenzazepines.

A photoinduced radical difluoromethylarylation via tandem addition-cyclization of alkynes with easily available [bis(difluoroacetoxy)iodo]benzene is accomplished, providing a straightforward and practical route for the construction of difluoromethylated dibenzazepines. Various sensitive functional groups can be compatible under photoinduced conditions. Mechanism investigation reveals that this transformation is initiated by the addition of alkyne with difluoromethyl radical, generated in situ from [bis(difluoroacetoxy)iodo]benzene.

Photoinduced intramolecular carbosulfonylation of alkynes: access to sulfone-containing dibenzazepines from sulfur dioxide.

A photoinduced three-component reaction of N-benzyl-N-(2-ethynylaryl)amides, sulfur dioxide and aryldiazonium tetrafluoroborates is developed, providing an efficient and straightforward approach for the synthesis of diverse vinylsulfonylated dibenzazepine derivatives in moderate to good yields under mild conditions. This transformation proceeds smoothly at room temperature in the presence of visible light, which shows a wide range of substrate scope with good functional group compatibility. The synthetic utility of this methodology is further demonstrated through Suzuki coupling. Mechanistic s

Palladium-Catalyzed Cyanothiolation of Internal Alkynes Using Organic Disulfides and tert-Butyl Isocyanide.

Despite the availability of selective synthetic approaches to multifunctionalized substituted olefins, the cyanothiolation of internal alkynes has been much less explored. Herein, we show that nonactivated internal alkynes can be successfully cyanothiolated with diaryl disulfides and tert-butyl isocyanide in the presence of a Pd catalyst (e.g., Pd(PPh3)4) with the release of isobutene and arenethiol to afford β-thiolated alkenyl cyanides in yields of 34-89%.

Pd-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling of Terminal Alkynes with Chromium(0) Fischer Carbene Complexes.

Alkyl chromium(0) carbene complexes typically undergo cycloadditions with alkynes to afford carbo- or heterocyclic compounds. In the presence of Pd catalyst, it is demonstrated that a traditional cycloaddition pathway is completely altered: instead of cycloaddition, oxidative cross-coupling reaction of alkyl chromium(0) carbene complexes with terminal alkynes occurs. The coupling reaction exhibits excellent functional group tolerance and good efficiency.

Copper-Catalyzed Trifluoromethylazidation of Alkynes: Efficient Access to CF3-Substituted Azirines and Aziridines.

A novel method for convenient access to CF3-containing azirines has been developed, and involves a copper-catalyzed trifluoromethylazidation of alkynes and a photocatalyzed rearrangement. Both terminal and internal alkynes are compatible with the mild reaction conditions, thus delivering the CF3-containing azirines in moderate to good yields. The azirines can be converted into various CF3-substituted aziridines.

Allylcyanation of alkynes: regio- and stereoselective access to functionalized di- or trisubstituted acrylonitriles.

Allyl cyanides are found to add across alkynes in the presence of a nickel catalyst prepared from Ni(cod)2 and P(4-CF3-C6H4)3 in situ to give variously functionalized di- or trisubstituted acrylonitriles in highly stereoselective manners possibly via a pi-allylnickel species as an intermediate. alpha-Siloxyallyl cyanides also react at the gamma-position of a cyano group with both internal and terminal alkynes having various functional groups to give silyl enol ethers, which give the corresponding aldehydes or ketones upon hydrolysis.

Synthesis of Succinic Acids via Electrochemical Dicarboxylation of Aryl Terminal Alkynes with CO2.

An environment-friendly and efficient method for the synthesis of succinic acids has been developed through the electrochemical dicarboxylation of aryl terminal alkynes with CO2. The reaction proceeds smoothly at a certain constant current in acetonitrile with manganese(II) carbonate (MnCO3) as the additive, giving the desired succinic acids with up to 85% isolated yield. The system is applicable to various aryl terminal alkynes, exhibiting good functional group tolerance. This method may open up a window for the application of the electrochemical strategy in the synthesis of multicarboxylic a

Light-Promoted Palladium-Catalyzed Regiodivergent Transfer Hydrothiocarbonylation of Alkynes Regulated by Coordinating Anions.

α,β-Unsaturated thioesters are fundamental building blocks in organic synthesis, but their efficient and regioselective construction remains a significant challenge. Traditional palladium-catalyzed carbonylations of alkynes typically require hazardous high-pressure carbon monoxide (CO) and suffer from poor regiocontrol, largely due to catalyst poisoning by CO. To address these limitations, we have developed a visible-light-driven palladium-catalyzed protocol that employs thioformates as safe, bench-stable surrogates under ambient, CO-gas-free conditions. This mild system operates at room tempe

Rhodium(III)-Catalyzed Three-Component Oxyamidation of Alkynes with CO2 Retention from Dioxazolones.

Alkyne oxyamidation represents a powerful difunctionalization system toward rapid assembly of tetrasubstituted, electron-rich alkenes. We herein report a Rh(III)-catalyzed three-component oxyamidation protocol utilizing amine, dioxazolone, and indolyl alkyne as substrates. This transformation enables unprecedented utilization of carbon dioxide moiety from dioxazolones─a process that circumvents the stoichiometric CO2 waste typically associated with dioxazolone-mediated nitrene transfer reaction. Operating under mild conditions, the reaction is characterized by 100% atom-economy, high regioregu

Detection and Identification of Alkenes and Alkynes Using a 19F-Labeled NMR Probe.

We report a trifluoromethyl-labeled copper(I) complex probe that, in combination with 19F NMR spectroscopy, enables rapid and specific detection of alkene and alkyne compounds. The probe operates based on dynamic coordination interactions between the Cu(I) center and unsaturated hydrocarbons, converting recognition events into distinct 19F NMR signal changes, thereby allowing "separation-free" analysis without requiring complex sample pretreatment. Experimental results demonstrate that the probe can effectively discriminate between terminal and disubstituted alkynes, distinguish structurally s

Facet-Solvent Synergy Enables Stereodivergent Hydrosilylation of Terminal Alkynes Using CsPbBr3 Perovskite Photocatalysts.

Vinylsilanes are indispensable intermediates in modern organic synthesis, yet achieving stereodivergent control in alkyne hydrosilylation remains a long-standing challenge. Herein, we report the first example of visible-light-driven chemodivergent hydrosilylation of terminal alkynes enabled by CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystal photocatalysts. By exploiting a unique facet-solvent synergy, the same alkyne substrates can be selectively transformed into either β-(Z)- or β-(E)-vinylsilanes under mild conditions. Triplet Excited Nitroarene Converts Aryl Alkynes to Ketones by Deleting a Carbon Atom.

In this study, triplet excited nitroarenes were used to convert internal alkynes to ketone fragments through simultaneous oxygen insertion and carbon deletion. The approach was effective across 33 diverse substrates, compatible with various functional groups, and applicable to bioactive molecule derivatives and large-scale synthesis. UV-vis spectroscopy revealed the role of visible light in exciting nitroarenes, while mechanistic experiments identified ketene and nitrosoarene as key intermediates, with the deleted carbon released as CO and CO2.

Copper-catalyzed stereo- and regioselective hydrophosphorylation of terminal alkynes: scope and mechanistic study.

Herein, a protocol for copper-catalyzed highly stereo- and regioselective hydrophosphorylation of terminal alkynes to E-alkenylphosphorus compounds was well developed. It represents a general and practical hydrophosphorylation method, of which diarylphosphine oxide, dialkylphosphine oxide and dialkyl phosphite all had effective P(O)H parts to react with different types of terminal alkynes. Contrary to previous air-sensitive reports, all the reactions proceeded well under air. This methodology is quite attractive owing to the high stereo- and regioselectivity, good functional group tolerance, s

(Z)-Selective Hydroboration of Terminal Alkynes Catalyzed by a PSP-Pincer Rhodium Complex.

A highly (Z)-selective hydroboration of terminal alkynes was achieved using a thioxanthene-based PSP-pincer rhodium catalyst. This hydroboration exhibited good chemoselectivity toward alkynes over carbonyl compounds such as ketones and aldehydes. The mechanistic studies indicated the involvement of rhodium-vinylidene intermediates, and the high (Z)-selectivity could be attributed to the rigid and electron-rich nature of the PSP-rhodium catalyst.
